so it raly isn't that hard to keep a flat black car clean. Plus do you think that a vynal wrap would be better than a full on paint job.

primer is flat, but a lot of color coats are gloss or have 'clear coat' mixed in, u can't get that DEEP look to it if its just a clear coat on a flat color. and flat isn't as 'smooth' as gloss (yes it IS smooth to the touch) but flat/matte has tiny tiny pores which gives it that look. if u've ever taken sand paper to some glass its the same effect - tiny tiny scratches give it a haze.

Ok so the basic washing is the same but either way if painted or not you wouldn't want to wax it right?

with FLAT vinyl you are correct. but normal glossy vinyls are fine to wax. the local car wash here washes/waxes the police cars and those are covered w/ vinyl decals

the basic rule is: if it is flat finish - don't wax it, no mater it be paint or vinyl or whatever

My buddies dad is a painter and he painted his SRT-4 flat black and it looks awesome. All he ever does to keep it clean is just wash it. I believe he told me that his paint does have a special clear coat over the black paint but as far as what it's called I have no idea.

People get confused about the difference between flat black, satin black, and matte black.

depending on where u get ur paint done flat black can have that chalky look to it. but if u ask for a matte black or satin black type finish is totally different from a reg. flat black. u can test it out by just going to home depot and buying all three finishes in arousal spray can form. ive painted emblems and grills on my different cars and matte black has the best finish that gives you the so called flat black but still has a lil bit of a shine than regular flat black.
