Hey but since mostly EVERYONE is a professional driver and automotive expert if you have an L99 and see a manual camaro or even a kia.... Run. Run hard and hide. You don't stand a chance
![]() Thank God my auto is fast enough to get away from them so I can hide lol

Well, the whole purpose behind me even wanting a manual transmission is that it has a less loss of power through the drivetrain which gives you more rwhp. That's all I'm really about;performance and looks. I don't really care about the whole "oh I feel I'm more in control of the car" argument; the deciding factor for me as to which transmission to choose is simply based on which is more efficient.
For instance, I do own an L99 auto, but originally I wanted a manual because from my reading and viewing dyno-graphs it's proven to get more rwhp, but my salesman and family kept insisting "oh if you don't know how to drive stick you should get the auto because it's no walk in the park" and "oh it'll be harder to sell a car with stick because many people don't really know how to drive one", ...so I just said, ok and got the automatic. I'm very happy with my purchase though, the L99 Autobot is fast as hell out of the box and very consistent; I've even left a couple of manual SS drivers behind when they wanted to have some fun on an open road for friendly competition, they apparently missed a shift. You see in an auto I don't have that problem. Making a new car purchase is very hard though, your spending your hard earned money and you want something that's going to have great performance, looks, quality and long term reliability. I could care less about which car makes you feel like more of a man or "in control of the car", I just want something which is the more efficient of the two, if one even exist. The GrandSport is 3,311 pounds I believe, that's ridiculously light,....there's supercars that don't weigh that much, so that's an advantage right there. It's manual transmission dynos about 390 rwhp in stock form, so let's see, you have a 3,311 pound 390 rwhp sports car,....and based on that you have a extremely vicious beast on your hands! Now if I had the auto, I'd imagine it probably would get less rwhp, say 350? I'm not happy about that; modding up you'd have to make a hell of a climb in hp numbers from 350 all the way up to 400hp, but if it was a manual, and dyno'd 390rwhp, a simple tune with some bolt-ons would put you over the 400rwhp range-easy, but I just don't know with the auto. Which net you the most gains from mods, autos are manuals? Which is more consistent? Trick question:autos. You see that's my whole problem in deciding which Grandsport I want, I want something which has the best performance, and responds better to mods. I can afford a Grandsport, not a z06, so I'll have to just mod up, it's no skin off my back. But the way things look currently, I'd probably go with the manual. But if the auto produces around the same rwhp, I'd just say screw it and get the auto because it's easier to "mash and go" lol. I really appreciate all of you guy's feedback, but could you all just quit bashing each other about which is better:manual vs automatic. I find it to be a damn ridiculous argument. Facts are facts, if autos are more consistent in a real world setting fine, that's just great, but if manual produce more horsepower at the rear wheels, then that balances things out. Either way, automatic Corvette Grandsport or manual Corvette Grandsport, auto L99 or manual LS3, it doesn't matter, they're still GREAT and AMAZING AMERICAN CARS! Just pick one that you like which suits your needs.

Let me try to slow this down for you. No driver will ever be better than a computer. Computers don't make mistakes, drivers do. Why do you think the fastest cars are automatic. The LS3 has more horsepower, yes, but it depends solely on the ability of the driver to use it. You may weigh less, you may have 35 more horsepower but you can't drive, and my computer can. Ever wonder why Z06/GT500 can get beat by an SS or a s197? It's because the guy in the drivers seat shifting can't drive. |

And in my opinion, either get a ZR1 or don't get a Vette at all. I know I'd be pissed it wasn't a ZR1. And generally speaking...the only people I see with Vettes or looking to buy one are grandpas. lol But yes, ZR1 or nothing at all. |

Also, he KNOWS that it's not the same type of transmission as a Lamborghini/Ferrari/etc. He is just stating that the same action has the same result in either car. Press/click the upshift paddle/button and it upshifts. Wow. Yes, when stock the shifts are a little delayed and lazy. However, with a tune the 6L80 is quick and will chirp 1-2 and 2-3. All that needs to be done is bump up the line pressure and eliminate about 50% of the torque management and voila, quick.
