@mercedestech:

If you were to live in my corner of the prairie you would have developed a huge stomach ulcer by now.

Here it is standard practice with MB's and BMW's for the past 30 years to either order them with all badges removed or with badges belonging to other models.

Notice I wrote "order them" : the local dealerships directly take care of this.

In the case of a "misbadged" car the dealer orders it with no badges to the factory also ordering a separate set of badges from a different model and then make the "upgrading" locally before delivering the car to its proud, pretentious, "poser" owner.

Want to tell models appart? Become an expert on the minor details such as exterior trim, sets of wheels corresponding to each model, etc. as posers normally are shamefully clueless about such stuff

Myself just keep it simple, as the proof is in the pudding: just challenge any teutonic piece of junk in the road by revving up your engine and watch what they have to put on the table!!

Happy trails!

Transformer badges? Your car is not a freaking robot!
I have a neighbor with a 95' Mustang "VERT" (according to the ridiculous license plate) with aftermarket exhaust. Loud as hell and wakes me up.
It makes that little underpowered thing sound like it has serious horsepower, just another poser. I've even seen talk of people wanting to put HUD in a 2010 Camaro! You don't have a 2011, stop trying to make everyone think you do!
I have one of the less than 2000 factory made transformers. True it is not a robot but a special order from the factory. Those dang robots on the assembly line. I'm just reading and having fun, I understand your point.

I see people down here all the time posing as a factory transformers but they don't have the wheel center caps, the console lid and door sill that the factory installed.

Do I get upset? Not really, but it is a shame a person would want to be a poser than rather being themselves.

I don't know why some people would look for such trivial reasons to get upset. I envy those who has so few problems in life that they take the time to work themselves up over such silly things.

It's your car. Do what you want with it and have fun.

I don't get mad but I think it's just plain silly. If you love your car then love it as a 6 or an 8. Don't pretend it's something it isn't because you just look like an idiot to those who know.

Just throwing this possibility out there some people just really like the look of the badges and dont really know the true meaning of the badges. May sound corny but think of the SS owners who change the colors or emblems of the SS badges cause of the looks. You have to keep in mind most people here are true camaro enthusiast but the average owner prob is not. I know I didnt know the difference between RS and SS till I joined this forum. I do know some people try to make it seem like they have a car that they dont but just may not be the case with all the people who do. I do believe that since they are the one paying for the car that they can do whatever they want. Heck Its a guy around here that has a Rolls Royce emblem on a old honda accord I dont think if he pulls up to a real Rolls that the owner of the Rolls will get mad. Prob just laugh. At the end of the day just be happy with your car and knowing you have a REAL SS RS or whatever

I'm in Myrtle Beach on Vacation, and have seen two seperate V6's running around down here badged as an SS. Both were RS package cars. I pulled up behind a yellow w/black ralley's my first night here, and noticed the exhaust tips right away as not being quite right. As I pulled up beside it...no Brembo brakes...and upfront no mail slot. But it did have red front and rear SS badges. The second was a red vert with all of the factory badging removed, and vinly ss emblems in their place. And just so everyone knew, he also put huge vinly SS emblems on the front fenders under where the camaro lettering should be. Just makes me wish I would have drove the Camaro down here instead of our ML....just so they knew that they weren't fooling me. I realize in the grand scheme of things it doesn't mean shit.....just annoyed beyond belief when I see one. Kinda like rolling up on a BMW 528 or 530 that has M5 badges on it, or a Mercedes E350 with E63 badges etc.... Just don't see the point. The people that would be really into their car, are the same ones that know it isn't the real deal.....the only ones that are fooled are the ones that could care less anyway.
Meybe his name is Stan Smith and he liked the idea of his initials on his car. It's their car, they can put Porsche badges on it if they want to. Meybe they did it just to tick people like you off. I'm starting to like the idea... I have a set of the SS's off my el camino - painted pink. A little gorilla glue and I can give REAL SSers something to be upset about. How DARE I desecrate the beloved SS in such a manner... Think I'll vacation wherever you live this summer

Soon we will see SSs rebadged a ZL1s. We'll even see V6 Camaros rebadged as ZL1s.
Do I agree with it? No

Some kid in a Civic is going to brag about how he almost beat a ZL1. In reality, he raced a stock V6 Camaro.

Modding to make your car faster or different from everyone else is great. But putting badges on your car that represent something its not isn't something I agree with.

And I saw a V6 Camaro rebadged as an SS while waiting in the service lane at our local Chevy Dealership. He was a couple cars up on front of me in line.

Having said that, any jokes I make against V6 drivers, it's all just jokes. I am definitely of the mind set that ALL Camaros are awesome cars.
Talk about contradictory!

As for the SS posers, I agree. Totally silly. Who knows why people do what they do!

I've had Vettes forever, and the same thing happens there. People will add some vents on c5s then stick on z06 badges. Or put a widebody conversion on a non z06 c6 and stick on z06 badges. Again, I think it's totally silly!

Another thing in the Vette world is putting on badges that show the package that is on your car, like the z51 performance package. Some folks get their panties totally in a wad about it, saying that "z51" emblems look so much like "z06" emblems that, again, the person doing it is a poser. I just think it looks silly! (And my c6 has the z51 package.)

Just drive your car and enjoy it. To you it may be the greatest thing on the planet, but the truth is that there is always another car that's faster or handles better. People make too much of a big deal about counting cylinders, there are stock 6 cylinder cars that will dust you on a track.
I agree with the transformers badges in my opinion its played out! Just this morning i saw an impala and a civic with big transformer badges.

As for as the hud goes, its not about people trying to pretend they have a 2011 sorry to break it to you but its baisicly the same car.People get the hud because they like it!

That was tongue in cheek! But you basically made the same point with the bolded section. Shouldn't let badging bother you any more than V6 brakes on an SS. Life is WAY to short for that.

In the end it is their car they may do as they wish, would I, not a chance; however, since they pay the car payments they can have what they want and look silly to others while thinking it looks cool. DSTSS (don't sweat the small stuff); way more important things to worry about than someone who wants others to think thier car is something it is not. I am sure there will be some who will badge thier cars as ZL1 when those are out and fool themselves or others who do not know, however, they cannot fool anyone who knows anything about the Camaros such as the majority who are on this forum. My thoughts on this anyway. Thanks.
