The Boss intake doesn't make any more peak power vs. the stock however it does it for ~1K RPM. 6,800-7,800. The stock intake hit's peak power right around 6,800 and then falls sharply off. For example, at 7,800, the Boss intake is making 50+ more WHP vs. the stock. The trade off is some loss of TQ in the lower RPM range but that isn't where the time is spent at the track. On the 11.31 run I was in 1,200' DA. It corrects down to 11.16@124.46. I believe the Boss intake will push me into the high 10's N/A with good prep and air. Yes on the roll bar, etc. I mentioned it in a previous post in this thread. Link to timeslips:

Don't feel bad. My first time to the track last weekend was embarrassing, although I managed to beat every mustang that showed up after I remembered to turn off traction control.
However, none of them were new 5.0's, and the only cars running quick were race prepped imports. There wasn't a Mitsubishi there slower than 12.9 (quickest was 10.4). There was an Integra trapping almost 140mph on street tires. Meanwhile I couldn't break out of high 13's w/ no traction and wheel hop issues. The whole night was like the twilight zone. |

My cai filter is a year old and the new one should be here tomorrow. Maybe that will make a difference. Also with the heat in Al it slowed my times. The corrected da times would have been 12.6x so it puts me where I thought I should be with my mods. I am going to get 18 inch wheels and street slicks before I head back to the track. Thanks for all the input, most has been productive comments and thanks for that. When I hit the lottery I will be purchasing the ZL1 and then I won't have any issues. Ha ha

I thought you were talking an E-85 tune as well. Did you do that yet? if not that could help you out as well. |

Ok bud tell me another one, been around drag racing my hole life! Your trying to tell me that a 15" drag wheel setup with a slick over a 20" or even a 18" wheel setup is only worth .1
Lets just end it right here because you completely wrong! I wont even bother giving you examples of how off you are.

2 road tests not using proper equipment, this is only a representation. Light weight rims and tires with slicks good for a tenth, you expect people to believe that? I can't understand the folks that migrate over here and feel like they need to prove something........

As far as your comment about a 20 inch rear rim and tire being a wash compared to 15-16 inch drag slick or aggressive DR...it is obvious you have very little knowledge on the subject to make such a statement. If it is a manual car or an auto car with a stall converter in which they launch at high rpms...this mod alone could be worth a half second or more. |

e85 isn't worth much on a N/A application however I was looking into putting my larger injectors in when I bolt the Boss intake on to support it. My main goal there is to help with the Summer heat we are going to be experiencing soon which will help with timing being pulled.

Go back and re-read my post. I said swapping the stock fronts only for skinny Racestar FRONTS is only worth about .1 I came to this conclusion based on my own personal experience and the famous svtp member rw95GT (fastest stock powered GT500) who went from a 11.35 with heavy 19" stock front's down to 11.27 with 17" Racestar skinnys up front. He eventually got it down to a 11.16 after a few more sessions and better weather. 11.35 w/ stock fronts and 15" rear slicks 11.27 & 11.1 w/ Racestar Skinnys fronts and 15" Racestar rears w/ slicks. Sure 15" slicks hook better then a 18-20" DR's but there are still plenty of 9 second Mustangs running 18-20's to make me think that its not as big of a deal as some of you make out to be and to show its ability to drive to the track on your factory 20" rims and click off 9 second pass's to win the competition and drive back home in your full weight 4,070lb 5.0L Mustang on 20's. Chris Cruzs 2011 5.0 runs a 9.70@145mph on 20" drag radials
