I came out of a Phillies game back in April and when I got to my car my passenger side mirror on my 2001 Grand Am GT1 was hanging by its cable. Bunch of ignorant people with no respect for other people's property. I told my friend that there's not a snowball's chance in *HELL* that I would *EVER* drive my Camaro downtown to another game. In fact I'm never driving it nowhere near downtown. No concerts, bars, sporting events, etc. NOTHING.

Defensive parking folks. Its something ive been doing for a long time now and drives my wife bonkers. When we go shopping i have to drop her off then park cause i park so far away so she's says we might as well walk from home I park waaaaay at the back make sure the car is parked in a corner spot so worse case only one car can park beside me. Also i see any carts any place near my parking spots i put them them away so a wind doesnt blow it into my car. What i find really funny are people sitting waiting with there with a 40k car while hoping someone leaves there horrid parking spot so they can get into the store faster. Im sorry but my car is my second most expensive purchase im going to take dam good care of it.

When I was going to college, I had a 68 Camaro. I just got her out of the paint shop the day before. I purchased my meal from the drive through and decided to park in their lot to eat. I parked where nobody else was parked. This lady parks right next to me and slams her door open and hits my just painted Camaro. By the time I find somewhere to put my Big Mac down she is going into McD's. I go look and there is a little chunk of paint gone and a little dent. I took out my dorm key and gave her car a 5 foot long deep gouge along her doors. Of course I got the heck out of there. Some people just don't care.

I do my best to park a ways out in a lot. I can always use the exercise anyway. When I was a kid I had a 69 Camaro that I would not park in a lot because I was always worried it would get damaged. These days I just treat it for what it is, a car. If it gets damaged I get it fixed. I hope for the best and try and be smart but there are a lot of a--holes out there that have no problem damaging other peoples property. I am not going to allow them to keep me from enjoying my car.

"If it gets damaged I get it fixed"

yeah ok except often times it takes over a week to get it fixed, my gf's mustang took 5 weeks to get the parts in and repaired after a wreck. Yes, it's ridiculous, but when you live in podunkville that's how it works, and you can't afford to have your car in the shop 50% of it's lifetime.

I parked my then new Toyota 4x4 in the very last row of a walmart parking lot in San Diego and had it T-boned by an idiot that wasnt paying attention to where he was driving. $5500 in damage to a 2 week old truck. It doesn't matter where you park or how you park, Murphy will make sure your new baby is "blemished" and there isn't anything you can do to keep it from happening.

My wife's G5 GT was hit by an ice chest lid that knocked the front lower grill out and bent the transcooler. Flew off a chest in the back of a truck, was run over by a rig and shot into the front end. Nothing she could do, she never saw it coming until it was too late. I hate Murphy.

I know somebody who did this. Except, the owner of the vehicle in turn called the police. He got two midemeanors and had to cover the cost of repairs. To top it off, the other owner did not have to pay any repair costs to my friends car. Vigilante justice doesn't always pay.
