went to the dealer this week. they where very cool about the paint chip problem.but gm told them that the pie0017a was put out at a long time ago and is now discontinued. and that the chips where my fault and not covered under warranty. guess i wont be buying the z28 when it comes out and when people ask me about the camaro the first thing i tell em about is the paint issues and gm's unwillingness to admit fault. and if they're in the market for a new auto not to buy a chevy. still love my car but screw gm and all they stand for.

I also had chips where the front wheel kicked up road debris and chipped the paint just in front of the rear tire by the louvers.
I did a color sand on the whole car to remove the factory texture and clear coated it. I have not had any chips since. |

Regulators in Canada and especially the US. are making it economically next to impossible to manufacture any products. Excuse me for rant. China's stronghold just keeps getting stronger. |

Wrong, if a product is produced for sell in the US it has to meet the EPA standards. If what you said where true then GM would have to follow any of the other EPA regulations regarding the production and performance of the car. Things like emissions standards for example wouldn't apply, and they definitely do.

Good luck, cause I'm pretty sure you'll have the same problem with the paint if you buy a car from any auto dealer. Its the type of paint not the dealer. I know they could apply it a little thicker but that's not going to happen. Oh and Chrysler, there still not doing to good last time i checked.

its all about the enviroment....so instead of getting laquer fumes in the air our cars will be heaps of rust and plastic in land fills in ten or twenty years instead of being around for 50 years or so.....makes sense right.....maybe we should buy hybrids and electric cars with their toxic batteries that will be around for hundreds of years.......people are so stupid......

In my own option, this car has been very very poorly built, with exception to the motor and performance side. Its like they put a rocket on a soap box and just made sure the wheels wouldn't fall off before the warranty is up.

I dont have a mil tester but I have eyes lol no sarcasm intended. You look at the chips on the new car vs the chips on the old car and you can see an obvious difference in thickness. I compare it best with window tint... You tint a window with one layer, then poke it will something sharp, goes through easy. Tint that window again 2 more times you poke it again but now you don't see light come through as easy. Same concept with paint and clear coat right?? I hope you can find something more substantial with your mil tester, because I would like to have my car tested, just overall very disappointed. Bottom line the car was $38000. It should have gotten a better paint job. |
