This got me thinking...do most people not really care to look around them while driving? by that i mean, look at other people in their cars? almost seems like you are invading their privacy, or something? Or are people just shy to look next to them at a light? Kind of hard to explain...
I understand what you are saying, and yes, many people are just shy to begin with, that does make the most sense anyway. But I also know that sometimes, we are just so focused on driving, we sometimes don't see a wave. I am guilty of that myself.

I think it's what you are seeing in this thread.... a lot of ladies won't look because they feel it's safer not to send any signals at all. It's really a shame though, and I'm trying to be less like that but I would never intentionally NOT look at another 5th gen Camaro driver. She must be really paranoid or she didn't see you, chances of the latter are pretty slim though.

Sherri was driving my '10 last summer on the super-slab when a car load of guys from Canada passed her in a black Tahoe or Trailblazer and were hanging out the windows on the passenger side yelling, waving and smiling. It was all in fun and I was with her, she just smiled and kept driving.

Great thread Aby.. Great constructive comments from both the guys and the gals.

Mines a daily driver. I drive 18 miles each way - mostly city driving (23 stop lights). I have window tint, but 35% is the legal limit so you can kinda see thru it - and I'm a "windows-down" kinda a girl. There isn't a day that goes by that someone doesn't pull up on my right or my left to "get a better look". Some will roll a window down and point or wave to ask a question (is that a V8, is that a SS, does that have a stick shift, oh, your a girl). If someone waves or gestures, I do the same. Vette's are VERY friendly and wave almost all the time.

This is a good reason that "Camaro Nation" needs it's own wave!! Jeep Wranglers have a wave, motocycles have a wave - we need one too.

Thankx Aby. Lori

Not a girl here, but I have passed a few who had nice cars. I won't lie, I was checking them and the car out. The thumps up is the safest. That is normaly what I get from them. To me it means "hey buddy nice car". A smile and wave, could be misinterpurated as "hey sexy", looking away says "I'm a stuck up piece of $hit."

LOOKS

I get waves all the time! Guys driving snap on tools. I had a wave come from a 3rd generation camaro which was really random. I got a thumbs up yesterday from a guy in a cavalier. Recently, I have been getting several dirty stares Even when my friends ride in my camaro they tell me they are just jealous which is probably true! I do notice the more girls I have ride in my camaro the more looks we getI did notice a few fifth generation camaros in my town but they all ignore me! Mine is more special because it has been customized

It's in the perspective. That's what a man has to do for a women to peceive flirting, but men are wishing an atractive women would flirt with them so much that if she is trying to see something behind him, he will sware to all his buddies that she was checking him out.

More male perspective:

A wave comes across as too flirtatious, so unless that's the look you're after then I'd avoid it.

Thumb's up would be a universal way of saying you admire their car and you approve without getting followed to your destination.

However, if you're moving along and the other car's coming the opposite direction, you can give them the quick 4 finger wave without taking your hand off the wheel and they can see it and have time to react and reciprocate. It happens fast, and you don't have time to do much else.

She was probably just sitting there thinking to herself: "I hope this guy isn't looking at me because I don't know what to do. I'll just pretend to be looking straight ahead so he doesn't think I'm a jerk. When I get home I should put a post up on Camaro5.com asking what the proper thing to do in this situation is."

guys - if a simple wave is too flirtatious, you need to hang around women more.

I guess I'm just a flirt since I wave all the time at people checking out my ride. Most of the time they will engage me first by a thumps up, wave or really hard stare. Sweet SS is almost a year old and she still gets tons of stares.

I'm a pretty nice gal but I try not to make eye contact unless im at a stop light. I will say one day I was approaching a stop light one day and I saw a new challenger R/T sitting there. Right when it turned green the challenger squeeeeekked its tires and attempted to race me. I just shook my head and laughed. I'm not trying to race anyone especially to get pulled over. However, when I see another camaro on the road I will stare just because I want to see if it's an RS or SS. And just for the fact it looks so nice driving I was one of the first people to get the new camaro around here and now I see more and more on the road and it's just nice to see other 5th gen owners in this military town

I usually wave or nod. Most just want to carry on conversations at redlights and I'm not much of a "yell out the window" person.
