wow. this thread is a perfect example of how not to have a good event. this has disaster written all over it. my guess is they dont have a clue how this event is going to go. thats why they are not being specific.
i saw the venue location and thought i might go. after the 30 plus pages of inside jokes and drunk party planning, i didnt see enough info on the autocross/road side of things for us to take a chance on this thing resurecting itself. good luck to those brave enough to chance their summer vacation on this. ill be spending my cash to go to VIR and run 8 half hour sessions over two days going 150 plus on the back straight. thats just me though.

Well, first off, this is a giant Meet and Greet that just so happens to have a drag strip and an autocross..... all in the hopes of meeting people that enjoy the passion of the Camaro for what it is. A car that has a following.

And along with Meet and Greet, it's a rotating event so max participation can be obtained. If VIR suits you then go for it. But don't rain on this party.

im not raining on anything brother. i figured id get a negative response and thats understandable. i just thought you mght want my perspective. people who dont come in here every day would be confused and put off by this thread. this thread was linked to in another thread i had gotten to in a search. it was touted as the official thread for the event. if it isnt, then i got bad info. if it is the official thread, then maybe, just maybe, im not the only one that felt like the info could have been more organized. maybe it will be the best organized event the world has ever seen, but this thread doesnt exactly instill enough confidence for me to spend my money.
you can choose to use the info or not but it is input that a serious promoter would want.

I'm sorry to read this is how you perceive the event.

With respect -- we've done this twice, already -- and so we have a very GOOD idea of how this one will go.

May I ask, I see you've been a member here since 2010 - have you attended a past Camaro5Fest?

What we haven't done is throw all information out there at one time half a year ahead of schedule...things develop and change - so we're only announcing what we can after we're 100% sure what's going on. It avoids confusion and what not on the part of our attendees! Please note the links provided above for more information that you may have missed.

What you're reading into is the very tight-knit atmosphere the Camaro5 Fest is all about. It's informal. It's light-hearted. Everybody knows everyone else before it's over...if they didn't already. The "drunk party planning" is mostly banter. We've NEVER had ONE SINGLE issue from our people due to alcohol after-hours. A fact I am ridiculously proud of.

This isn't an auto-show. It's not a convention. This is a gathering of some of the best Camaro Enthusiasts in the world: This is the Camaro5 Fest III.

We keep the original posts updated with new information. Wasn't trying to come off negative. Just stating that this is really a giant Meet and Greet that has some racing events. I take all comments pretty serious as do folks that run the place, as I update a lot of information dealing with the Fest. If you or others feel there is not clear concise information in the original posts (where we update) then I'll work harder to make sure folks can find it.

The C5 moderators are volunteers. They are not paid for their work. The same moderators that volunteer to 'manage' the forum are the same volunteers that organize and run the C5FEST. They are not paid to run the FEST. If they were serious promoters this event would not be the same. It would be a business and not a Nationwide Block Party run by the people that live in the community.

I can tell you from my personal experience if you don't attend the FEST you are missing out on a very unique and special event. Next I suggest you contact anyone of the Moderators and volunteer to help them improve the FEST.

We will not be utilizing the road course, that is why you can't find any info on it. The track layout at LOR is such that the road course uses part of the drag strip, so the two can't be run together, and there is a greater demand for drag racing than going out on the road course (particularly when there is going to be autocross).

There is already information out there regarding the autocross (found here). We will have more and more details regarding track rules, schedule of events, and so forth later. But keep in mind that we are still nearly 6 months away from the Fest and we won't be posting that info until its finalized. No point in confusing people by saying one thing one day, and something else a month or two later.

As for Camaro5 Fest being poorly run, although we've only done 2 so far (and I've only been to 1) I can say that I haven't seen too many people complain that we didn't know what we were doing. Sure, there have been little quibbles and hickups but I'd say that overall, the vast majority of attendees have been quite happy with the job we've done.

If you wish to go to VIR for few hours on the track, go for it. Thats something that we can't really offer at this years Camaro5 Fest. On the other hand ... VIR won't have hundreds of 5th gens, even more Camaro enthusiasts, GM representatives, or any of the other things that will be in Indy this year. It all depends on what you prefer.

It's there. If you can't find it right off, ask. It may not have been posted yet. We'll get you steered in the right direction.

Sounds like a plan.

The closer we get to the event, the more information will be available.

Let's keep in mind, the fest was designed for members to get together and hang out. Drag race a bit, autox a bit but just meet and hang.

Everything else is bonus as far as I'm concerned.

For unpaid event staff and organizers this is actually pretty amazing.
