the monte carlo was an ss v6. and cobalt is an I4

Seems that the Z28 was considered the top of the line, although SS396/427 trumped it. Then again, so did COPO, Yenko et al.

While my ALL-TIME fave is the Super Sport, I do acknowledge the option code for SS is Z27. Z28 literally came from the option code.

So why argue? Everyone can be happy. Or should I say "ecSStatic!"

Wow GM is looking out for V6ers this time too, but this time I'm going V8 alll the way! Welburn sounds like he is really looking out for the buyer, he helped bring Cadillac back, but the new Camaro, Corvette ZR1 and even the CTS and Malibu is really helping GM big time! Thanks Ed Welburn! Can;t wait to get in my 2010 Navy Blue Camaro Z28 or SS.

That just does not make sense for a camaro the Z/28 and SS both need to have v8s. I do not think there will be 4 engines offered so only one v6. As to which is the top dog, I like the Z/28 name plate better, actually I wish the IROC could come back but allass the can not happen. Chevy is not going to spend the money on the rights for it and they have already lost in court for using the name the first time. But back to reality, go to the chevy website and click around. What do you see???

The SS is always the Top Dog for ALL Chevys. SS is the top dag just like when Cadillac brought out the CTS there was no question top dog will be the V with Chevy the top dog is the SS.

Next when does it come out, unfortunatly I do not think the SS is out from the start, V6 and base Z/28 will come out. The later the convertable and the SS come out. One thing I think alot of people are missing here is both the later convertable and the SS are still first model year 2010 cars just like the first ones out. If you think you will wait for the second year car as I have heard some say that means wait in about 19 months after introductio assumeing the first ones are out in January 2009 as a 2010 and the second model year 2011 comes out in late September of 2010. Cadillac brings out new models on Sept 21 if there are no major changes, atleast the used to, I don't know if chevy has a date.
That IROC-Z was a TOUGH name, if I end up with a Z-28 I'm going to customize it as my own IROC-Z if the SS costs too much. With all this talk of an affordable V6 and V8, the SS might cost over $42,000+. If its over $42,000 I'm going with a Z-28, if it has at least 400 horses I'm good. I think they should also update the Z28 logo like what they did with the Corvette ZR1.

Damn,

Scott didn't even touch this tread. :(

He'll tell us when he can I'm sure.

I know what I'm about to say is complete speculation so please don't flame me.

But, did Fbodfather's last couple posts come across like he's worn out? I can only imagine how hard he works. He's gotta be putting in military hours.

Well, if I've read it right, I say keep your chin up Scott. We truly do stand behind you.

If I've missed it, I don't mean to be presumptuous.

I'm sorry but I have to keep this going. The first gen Z28 in the magazines of the day ran a 14.8 1/4. The stock SS ran 13.5 in the 1/4. I don't care which one is more collectable back in the day an SS stomped the crap out of a Z28 just like it will in 2009.

I know... not as exciting as the recent round of spy shots. But, here are the pics my boss took at the Concuors D'Elegance of the Camaro.

I still can't believe I missed it. Stupid.

Look at the poor Challenger.

"I want the camera, too...me - me - take a picture of me!! ....why doesn't anyone take a picture of me?"

*as the Camaro looses layers of paint due to extensive flash photography*

I sent "Thank you" email to the reporter who interviewed Mr. Welburn. This is his reply back to me.

Pretty cool.

I thought it was worth posting here. Just proves that F-Body fans are everywhere. I guess he did know that it was newsworthy.

I’m with you. I’m an F-Body owner myself (2001 Trans Am WS6 convertible). I was thrilled when he dropped the word on the SS and debunked the current interior spy shots out there. Thanks for watching.

Sincerely,
