Ha ha, I drive the V-6 and if you saw my bank accounts you would see that I can easily afford to give you my lunch money before your faster car takes it. This thread is stupid. It made a little more sense in 2010 when fewer of these cars were out and people were looking for opinions but I think by now it has been well established that the V8 is quicker and has more pull than the V6, Duh!! It better or a lot of people threw 8k to 10k out the window when they bought their SS. Maybe the OP should be forced to test drive a Z28 or ZL1. With his logic he will then hate his SS.

beat me to it. not long ago people were looking to see if the local dealer had one of the Z28 on the lot since so few were built.

Well its a good thing I test drove both models before i bought my V6, ya the SS had more power and sounded better, but to me the two different models felt the same when it came to every other factor.
I test drove both models even when i traded my car in for a vert, still wasnt impressed enough with the SS to shell out another 8~10 grand for. After driving a V6 for two years, i was still very impressed with the performance of that engine, so I stuck with it, even though money wasnt an issue the second time around.

I could have gotten the SS 1LE, and almost ordered one. It was the forged crankshaft, four camshafts, direct injection, & 200lbs. lighter curb weight that sold me on the V6 along with better styling on the front fascia. I just couldn't justify the extra 8000-12500$ for the V8/1LE , when the V6 has that kind of technology, and can be heavily modded.

Maybe you should test drive a ZL1, then go back to the SS. I wouldn't bash the T4 Camaro yet either, they're supposed to pull mid five seconds 0-60. If I remember correctly, RS/V8 VS RS/V6 comparison by motor trend stated the V6 pulled slightly higher maximum lateral g's .90 for the SS, and. .93 for the V6. Braking was also within a few feet across the board. The V6 is lacking in torque though. At least he's not still driving a mustang, that's a plus! So, yes the V8 is faster than the V6.

More disclaimer: I am not intending any disrespect to those who have bought the V6.
To each his own. Most people out there, however, are not interested in a RWD front loaded V8. That's why hardly anyone makes them any more. Even the mid-size SUVs are going FWD nowadays.

So to me, I'm thrilled as all get out that there is not only a market for the V6 Camaro (& hopefully the turbo 4), but that there is also a very strong after market for them.

To put it in plain english, if GM did not offer the V6 cars, they wouldn't sell enough to keep the Camaro alive.

So bless all you 6ers, & thank you from the bottom of my heart.

& most owners will tell you they've yet to approach the limits of their V8 powered sports car.... & probably never will.

Another thing. I can't wait for 20 years from now when I buy a 2014 V6 car & drop the biggest baddest motor of the future in it.

Man I hate when people say RS for a V6. If you're going to start a useless rant at least get it right!!

RS is NOT a model, it's a damn appearance option.

Actually, the "base model" Camaro is the LS.

You better get used to not understanding things then.. cause it sounds like you have a life full of that ahead of you.
