Ummm, I don't see what the problem is here.
I open my gas door and I hang the cap CAREFULLY on the little hook on the door and there are no problems. I've been doing this since day one w/o a single scratch anywhere. just be careful and there shouldn't be any problems.

listen to this guy. He's very smart. I think the problem is ,they have the hook in the wrong location. It needs to be moved to the right about 2inches.

The line holding the cap is not as rigid anymore (more like a piece of string). So it hangs nicely on a slightly bigger hook. No wonder some people can't understand that others are having problems...
It was a pleasant suprise during my first fill up on the new car a couple weeks ago. I was always fighting that cap (like others) on the first Camaro #8675 |

So if they fixed this problem on the new car....how about a recall on the old ones which are really a pain.

I was actually going to post this, but in a joking matter. The word "RECALL" will never be associated with replacing the gas cap lanyard.
