The Z28 may end up being an appearence package and offer the SS motors.

Z28 will be a specialized version IMO true to its heritage. It's far from dead. But look out Boss Mustang.

I still think the Z28 will make its debut with the alpha platform, using the DI motor from the 'Vette. Lighter weight, high rev's, sounds like a true successor to the original concept of the Z28 IMO.

I'll be keeping my 2010 and Supercharging it, I was hoping for an SC Z28.

I'm surprised they didn't call it the ZL8 (Z-late) since they're years behind the Mustang supercharged models. I love Chevy but they need to bring it sooner than later.
If things had been smooth sailing, we'd have had the 'vert a year ago, and ZL1 right about now. But when the auto market collapsed and GM went bankrupt, they had to re-evaluate their projects. They've had more important things to do with their money than developing a high performance, low volume addition to the Camaro lineup.

The Camaro ZL-1 is the Shelby GT500 dominator. Chevy is marketing the Camaro in niche areas, but they are driving this Z-28 fan crazy. Now they have me wanting the ZL-1 too.

The Z-28 isn't dead....it's in Chevy's bag of new Camaro projects. A new light 302 motor and car must be in the works. Chevy is staying true to the original Z-28 concept and it will beat up on the Boss 302 in the near future!

Waiting is difficult!

I just hope we avoid a 1971-1972 type crisis

why do people keep thinking that the gen V V8's are going to be something special and exclusive?

Because I highly doubt that they will use the 'Vette spec motor in the Silverado, just as I don't see the LS3 in a Silverado currently.

Actually, the L92 is a close relative to the LS3, I'd describe it as being the older brother to the LS3. Both are 6.2L gen IV aluminum V8's with the same bore and stroke, putting out over 400 hp and 400 ft-lbs of torque. Its not exactly the same, but the differences are minor in comparison to the similarities.

It just gets me when people talk about THE DI engine, as if there is only ever going to be one and only one. The LS3's replacement will be feature DI and so will the replacement (if GM chooses to do so) for the LS9.
