Dealership Entrepreneur Manual:
If you own a dealership (or any other business) you should follow these instructions. 1. Take ALL keys home with you every night and put them under your pillow in a secure case. Handcuff the case to yourself while in transit. 2. Hire as FEW people as you absolutely need. 3. If you are sick or have to go out of town, close your dealership while you are gone so that you can keep all keys with you in the secured case. 4. YOU and YOU alone should move, drive, or test any vehicle OR be there when any employee has ANY customers keys to be sure a copy or mold is not made. 5. Do NOT allow any employee to accept keys from a customer. YOU should be the one to handle keys at any time. 6. At the beginning and end of each day you must have a security checkpoint and frisk and inspect all employees who leave the property. Including going through bags, purses, pockets etc........... YOU can be the only person to do the inspections. 7. Do NOT allow any employee to be on the premises after you leave or before you arrive. Have them park outside or inside so that ehy can not come or go until you get there to inspect them. 8. Hire a security guard ............. wait..... nvmd ..... you'll be liable for them too. 8. Sleep at the dealership in shifts with your wife or a business partner. Keep all keys at your business partners house under his pillow while it's your shift to be at the dealership. 9. Put all customer vehicles in one large garage and pull your night shifts in that garage. 10. Install a finger print and/or eye retina scanner only set for YOU and your business partner to open all doors. Make sure there are NO keys to the facility. If you can not afford the high tech stuff, carry an extra case of keys for the facility. 11. Drug test, credit check, criminal background check, profile and portfolio check all empoyees and lay off any who do not meet stringent criteria. 12. Do NOT hire ex-cons, anyone with a credit score under 680, anyone with excess tickets or fines and other violations, any divorcees, any non-custodial parents, anyone who was ever fired from a job (or laid off because they may have had it downgraded), anyone who has had more than one employer per 3 years in the past 12 years or anyone who is not well groomed at all times........... you get the point. This should keep you from EXTRA liability in case of after hours theft or damage from an employee of a customers car. |

Ok I kept seeing you talk about how a business owner should do this and how they are not responsible for that. We do have the responsibility for so much and thats why we are insured and bonded. It is also why when an employee complains about how they don't make enough money and as a business owner we make so much profit (which really is not that much) off of their work I don't feel bad. We assume all the risk and "responsibility".
Much of the rule you put done as a joke I would follow. Quote:

New member to this Forum. I have read this thread start to finish. I owned a 1965 & 1970 GTO. When GM shot down Pontiac in favor of Buick, I lost faith with their treatment of loyal customers. I have been waiting for 3 years to get my hands on the ZL1 Camaro Convertible of my dreams. I didn't care how much it cost, I just wanted it to be perfect and stay that way. Because of this story and GM's lack of effort to do something I will find a different car. Maybe a Challenger if I can find a good dealer in Tampa, Florida.
