Hey, as long as YOU are happy with it, that's what counts.

That car just plain ROCKS - and it IS yours. Funny how you probably play the video over and over. Gets your blood flowing. Now we just need that recording in THX surround sound or something.

I can't wait to see (hear) the video of you driving it.

Maybe I missed it but which mufflers are on the car, the dual s-tube or chambered turbo mufflers?

I saw the cat-back but if I get headers I'll likely get a full kit, maybe not I was just hoping to see it as an option.

Yep. I'm happy with it. Tell ya'll what. I just got the #'s back from Stainless Works. Here's how it played out.

Now...we have NO idea how this happened, but ya'll are going to love the results.

I was told my car dyno'd at 416hp a while back...but we figured that was flywheel and it still needed to be broken in. Well, Scott from Stainless Works and I got to talking today through email. Here's a snippet of what he had to say....

Quote:
Thank you for your understanding, Doug. I appreciate that. I understand why you were upset and apologize for our lack of discretion in making that video public without your knowledge or consent. We are happy with the way that exhaust turned out, you are going to love it. What is most impressive is how aggressive at idle and under load it is, while being quite with no drone at cruise and light load. A baby could fall asleep in the back so long as you stay out of the loud pedal.

Attached is the dyno info, it is very impressive. Your car is making roughly 50 hp more at the tires from the factory than other cars we have seen. I don't know what to credit that to other than good luck on your part.

It is important for you to understand that rear wheel horsepower ratings on the dyno are generally 15% lower than flywheel ratings. Chevrolet (and all manufacturers) rate horsepower and torque on the engine only at the flywheel; when you run on the dyno, you are measuring horsepower after losses through the drivetrain, power accessories, etc. That is why it is so impressive that your car made 416 stock; that translates to roughly 490 hp at the crank, which is 60 hp more than GM rates these cars. We have heard 375 stock is pretty normal, which is about 440 hp at the flywheel.

I don't know what to think of this, but NO ONE tuned the car. Tom didn't do anything nor did Stainless. So, how in the world this car is getting "approximately" 490 at the crank is BEYOND ALL OF US.

All my charts are in Excel format. It'll take a few to figure out how to do the graphs for all to see. But, the #'s for REAR WHEEL HP so far are:

Stock:

416hp and 349tq @ 6259rpm

(torque was greatest at 4609rpm w/ 402tq)

Catback:

423hp and 355tq @ 6255rpm

(torque was greatest at 4605rpm @ 407tq)

PEAK HP w/ HEADERS AND ALL:

440hp and 377tq @ 6123rpm

(torque was greatest at 4673rpm at 417tq)

REMEMBER......

THESE #'s ARE GOING TO BE CHECKED ON A DYNOJET. We are NOT sure if the #'s are correct, but this is what was told to us. AGAIN...DO NOT FREAK OUT! THE #'s WILL be run again to verify.

I explained that this was odd and thought his #'s were off. He said,

That was our reaction, which is partially why we haven't told many people the power numbers. We are half afraid people will think we are BS'ing. By our calculation, that car is making over 500 hp flywheel....more than an advertised stock Z06. (although we have seen stock Z06's put down 460hp, which is roughly 540 flywheel).

That was on a Mustang Dyno also, which are typically a little more conservative than a Dynojet.

I'm glad they've worked it out with you Tag'. As much emotion those videos stir, you can't argue it doesn't sound simply bad@$$

On another note: Is there any idea if there were gains with the bigger primaries? my biggest worries were going to be about exhaust velocity and noise, but it sounds like the mufflers take care of the noise, and by the looks of the gains they aren't hurting! Now, I know you mentioned there was no tune before leaving THR, but did SW tune the car after the exhaust?

Are they going to send some on-car pics'? I heart pics'

I'd wait until the dynojet numbers come out. Don't Mustang dyno's require operator input which can affect the results both ways (although typically more conservative)?

Hmm, i might be the only one that doesn't like that sound. Its like a boat. Too overdone IMO, I prefer the stock sound to this.
