We have something in place for the car and name tags already. However, I'm looking to modify/upgrade what we have in place now.

I did some searches but couldn't find the answer I was looking for.

What is the helmet specification requirement?

I know different tracks and organizations will set certain standards that must be met for the helmets such as Snell ratiing, etc. I have a collection of motorcycles helmets from my road racing days but wanted to see if I needed to purchase a new helmet to meet the requirements.

Also, are there going to be any other requirements such as neck braces, etc.

Snell SA2005 or better.

If anyone has a car mean enough to require a neck brace they should bring it LOL

There will be rules posted closer to april.

I know a lot of people said they are bringing extra helmets, will there be a place where we can sign up to borrow a helmet? Or will they have helmets for sale there?

Here's a question:
Parking at the South Georgia Motorsports Park - How will it be organized. I'm assuming not just a typical parking lot. Separate sections if you want to show vs. drag vs. bracket etc. I'm guessing there'll be a lot of cars movin' around b/c I know I want to do...well... almost everything. Parking on grass? pavement? (please don't say gravel).

Not that this makes much difference - just curious. Unless... someone is planning to bring a 25' flag pole that spikes into the ground to ... oh I donno... fly a big Canadian flag...... Just sayin'... someone might want to do something like that... you know... some people are crazy...

I found on Internet:

Auto Racing Helmet Ratings

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HELMET RATINGS...WHAT DO THEY MEAN?
Auto racing helmets are rated by Snell as either SA, M, or K...

Snell SA Rated Helmets:
Snell "SA" (Sports Application) rated professional helmets are designed for auto racing and provide extreme impact resistance and higher fire protection.

Snell M Rated Helmets:
Snell "M" (Motorcycle) rated helmets are designed for motorcycling and other motorsports. They offer slightly less protection than SA rated helmets.

Snell K Rated Helmets:
Snell "K" (Karting) rated helmets are designed for Karting applications. They are subjected to the same test standards as SA helmets except the do not require a fire retardant interior.

What are the key differences between SA and M Rated Helmets:
- SA standard requires flammability test while the M standard does not.
- SA standard has rollbar impact test while M standard does not.
- SA standard allows narrower visual field than M standard (Some SA helmets aren't street legal).

How do I know if my helmet meets the necessary Snell requirements for the organizations that I race with?
Always check your rulebook to determine what helmet specifications your racing organization requires. SCCA Solo rules, for example, will allow you to use the current Snell specification, as well as the previous two Snell specifications. So, for the 2007 season, you could use Snell Snell M95/SA95, Snell M00/SA00, or Snell M05/SA05 helmets. Snell M90/SA90 helmets would not meet requirements after October 1, 2005.

Some other racing organizations will allow you to use the current Snell specification and only the previous Snell specification, so read your rulebook carefully. Also, if you are considering the purchase of a Snell "M" rated helmet, be sure that your club will allow them. SCCA Solo does allow Snell "M" rated helmets, although some organizations that run high speed events will require Snell "SA" rated helmets. We recommend Snell "SA" rated helmets because they will be legal for any type automotive activity you participate in.

So.... I didn't really get an answer to my question. It was actually a serious question. Anyone?

From the pictures of the park it is asphalt and grass. I see no dirt, even the oval track is asphalt. Only sand/dirt I see is the run out on the drag strip. The turn in off the highway is paved and a huge (HUGE) parking area and then grass on the south end of the park.

It's big,
No dirt,
No gravel.

Thanks Garcmol - I pretty much figured it wasn't dirt or gravel - I was kinda joking about that. But was just curious how you guys were planning to organize 400+ cars that will be moving around some between the show & races & photoshoot etc.

72 days away still though - lots of time to sort out these details.
