Just went over to "buy" a 2008 Corvette at Chevy.com. And here's the damage:

Auto tranny is a 1,250 option, not free. The butterfly-valve exaust system is a 1,200 option. And the keyless start is indeed standard with a manual...but I got closer to the screen and read more carefully...keyless start...not remote start...it just means a push-button start....

A bit of good, and encouraging news, We get an LS3, and nicer-equipped Corvette for just under 1000 more than it's previous LS2 alter-ego.

I also found this in the same article that sort of argues with the above statement...

So the coupe and drop-top comes standard with a manual, and a keyless entry?!?!!
I was more interested in the no-cost option of an Auto-tranny.
but, hmmm
Do you think they'll do a paddle shift for the new Camaro.... i was very tempted by the manual 6 speed... but if the paddles are an option ummm... that'd be worth a look.

The new A6 they're putting n everything has "driver shift control"
So, yes.
Even the trucks they put it in have "DSC". The variation comes in how you shift it. Whether it's the tap-up/down using the shifter(caddy), or paddles on the wheel (Corvette, Malibu, G8), or buttons on the shift stalk in trucks...

You have to remember, though - and this is nothing against the A6, it's an amazing tranny - but it's still an automatic. Even with the paddles. It still follows the M6 by about .1 -.2 seconds, so it's not your Euro padddle shifters (maybe that's a good thing)

Umm.. nah after having a chance to play with a Ferrari F430 and a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 both with the paddle shift (F1 and E-Gear respectively) i'm fairly keen on a performance car with that set up, but only if it's a good responsive system... i don't like having to wait 3+ weeks for the gearbox to make up it's mind whether to change the gear or not.

Euro... grrr!!!

Supposedly, it's been fixed to deliver much better shift times than it used to. After all, it's been out for a little under 5 years, now...so they've been improving the programming each year.

I'm on the fence either way - but this 6L80 looks promising.

Well i'll see (when it comes time to buy) which i prefer.. if the paddles react well i might go for that, if i'm not so impressed i'll stick with a manual... track driving the paddle controls are really good... and with a nice big V8 the down shift should put a very big smile on my face

Sorry...got on a little tangent last night about my dream of having a 6.2L SC in the 5th Gen. Personally, I don't think it's too far fetched....for a GT500 killa!

And with all the talk....who knows? Possibility? I think so. Read.

I was just saying to read the thread about all the info that had been tossed around. Certain people made certain comments about engines, etc. I know it's a lot to go through, but it tends to lead me to believe there's going to be a SC version.

And...now...read the Camaro SS spyshot thread! Hmm....a little whistling coming from the engine?
