Seen here is what is likely the Camaro SS!! It was spotted by one of our members with his cellphone in Mesa, AZ, outside the GM proving grounds. It is being tested concurrently with other similarly configured Camaros in the GM proving grounds. From what we can see, the car's distinguishing body work includes the black hood stripe and hockey stripes running down the sides of the car.

We've been told that it sounded like "a demon"!

And had a whistling sound at idle

Wow. Very wow. With enough treatment they can even make white tolerable. Whistling? Is someone inferring forced induction on the only V8 option available at launch? I'd be pretty surprised....

Camaros have always had striping / decals available as far as I know. I hope they take their time and don't make them tremendously cheesy like some of the new MOPAR flat black / hugely orange peel textured Stang ones (how did they mess up stickers......). I like the placement so far at least. Woulda gone with red or hugger orange on the white car but we'll wait and see. Looks great.

^Yeah, I don't know why GM would place stripes on a prepro mule (and suprisingly it's a single stripe on the cowl hood), but this is a shot NO ONE has seen before. And this goes w/out saying, but....being that it was taken from a cell phone, it's tough to get a really good, clear view of the rest of the Camaro.

I just pray that whistling sound really turns out to be what I pray it is!!!

i girl i work with her dad works out at the proving grounds in mesa. she just told me that they are doing high speed testing out there right now.

They probably added the strips just to mess with us, I think GM is having fun teasing us.

At the pace we're seeing spyshots, video, etc, we're probably only a few weeks away from the engineers just driving the prototypes up to our front doors and honking the horn.

Personally, the sticks look hideous. Everything else sounds amazing though, especially the whistling idea.

I agree, the stripes don't look great. but there is a glare. But the whistling and stripes make for a lot more speculation on SS version and/or S/C version or both. The boards are going to get hotter tomorrow.

not really big on stripes on a car, but I do like the center stripe on this one... for it to be a test mule with a set of stripes, I'm guessing that some of the engineers were just having some fun with a pre-pro car... but the whistling sound makes for some interesting conversation.

I am wondering about the whistling sound. It would lead me to think that it is supercharged as well except for one thing......the hood vent is not open. It would stand to reason the the General would open the vent on an S/C car. I'm thinking the whistiling noise might just be the pulleys on a high compression engine. It is getting really exciting on the boards now all these finds are great!

Those stripes do nothing for me, if that's all that is offered I'd have to go stripe delete, no big deal.
