Injen or Vararam
Ok, I know this has been discussed MANY times before but I am looking to start it over after scouring the threads. I am looking at a CAI to add some HP, but mainly to produce a little better sound, is there REALLY that big of a difference between the Vararam and Injen? I think the Vararam is ugly and prefer the looks of the injen, but if the Vararam is worlds better I could get passed looks, I am looking for educated opinions or anyone who has experience with both. Thank you

I went from the Injen to the VR and found no difference doing timed 0-60 mph runs. I really thought the VR would shine from 60 to 100 mph
Now I did gain almost 3 tenths in the 1/4 mile with the VR but it was after I installed a Ported TB, SLP pulley and a Hypertech tune so how much did the VR contribute ? I'll never know. I think the VR sounds a tad better and funny, I like the looks of the VR. Can't go wrong with either.

so essentially not much difference in the performace so I might as well go with the Injen for looks.

With the performance being similar, next becomes a personal choice. You can do things like this with the Injen.

Yeah, I like the looks of that, what kind of paint did you use and was that on the chrome? Mine is Rally Yellow, pretty much decided on the Injen I think, Vararam may be good but it is so damn ugly and out of place

I just completed my VR install. Not all that excited about it. Some parts of the install I will have to go back and fix because you have to lean the radiator towards the engine in it's final configuration. Puts sharper bends in the radiator hoses, so I'll have to shorten some of them. I don't care for thier use of the long bolts, they don't hold the radiator brackets all that well. I did notice more pep in my get-up-and-go, but not much in the sound department. I definately think you get the sound from the longer tubes in other CAI kits. The K&N in my Hemi RAM makes a wicked cool sound when leaning on the go pedal. There's my two cents.
PS- I did have to get the strong MAF sensor as my car came with the weak one.

Yes it was originally the polished one. I used IOM factory paint that I bought from an on-line distributor and then shot a couple coats of clear.

I went with the Vararam, I just could not get myself to buy the cone on a tube, But I will admit that the injen and that CAI intakes are both good. I love to be able to talk to other car guys and explain how the Vararam is channeling the air into the Throttle Body. Now that I have installed the Black ICE-olator the fitment of the Vararam has much improved.

As another Injen supporter. I can't get over the sound the Long tube makes. I like it more than my MRT v2 and BBK headers. I can't speak for the sound of the vararam (i'm sure it's great) but i would never change the Injen. I LOVE the sucking noise it makes. So rad.
By far my favorite mod so far.

Actually no, they are not installed the same.
If I had the Injen, I'd probably look at the IAT relocation the SCRMNG did about 2-years ago. Probably worth a few extra hp, and relatively cheap.
