Getting a set of zl1 rims and wondering if anyone has replaced their tires and what did you use? Not a big fan of the p zeros i currently have.

Once you ride on the stock ZL1 goodyear garbage, you will become a fan of the pirelli pzeros. The best tires are the Michelin Pilot Super Sport as said above.

OP, if you're getting OE ZL1 wheels...my suggestion is to get the OE tires, too...besides being awesome, they're relatively inexpensive compared to other tires in that size. I've heard that (but not driven on) Michelin Pilot Super Sports are pretty good. I think you have to play with the sizes/profile, though. |

I have owned 2 different M3's with Michelin PS series tires. They are very good quality. Good year tires are the loudest and worst quality tires I have ever had. The run flats I had on a cobra were so loud that I had to change them within a week. If you are looking for some used ZL1 goodyears I will sell you mine dirt cheap. I want to get rid of them asap.

Compared to other tires of their size...yeah. But that's not saying much - they're still $1400 on TireRack!

It just sounds funny wether or not it's true in this application or not. I just put tires all the way around my sons Jeep for 450.00. |

Ironically, these tires (it could also be partially the car) are quieter than the 195mm Dunlop signatures (which I also love) on my Cobalt. I know there are a lot of poor reviews about run flat and early F1 G:1 Supercar tires from Corvette owners...but these are different, and I absolutely adore these tires. Quote:
ONE tire on this car costs more than it did to buy, mount, and balance all four tires on my Cobalt last year. (But it's true...with more ZL1s, and now the 1LEs & '13 GT500s...the price for front 285mm tires are dropping like a rock, and the rears more slowly, but also becoming less expensive as time goes on.) |

I would get 285/315 Michelin PSS's for ZL1 wheels.

The michelins are not runflats so they will have less road noise. I would love to see some lap times head to head SS vs G2's. the G2's grip. I have had my heads up over 1G. crappy tires don't do that.
