He is not saying it's slow, he is saying it's not responsive, because the car has not broken in. As for the OP, you said that you want a Z/28 but dont like the looks, if you are planning on having your camaro as a daily driver, the Z/28 is not a good choice. If you can get the ZL1, get that because it is a more aggressive model with all the luxuries, it is also very responsive perfomance wise and handeling wise. If you don't want the ZL1, then your best bet is a SS/1LE.

This is going to sound weird and maybe it's just me but my ZL1 feels way more responsive when the traction control is on. Even when traction isn't an issue, having it off just makes the car feel noticeably less responsive.

Jim, here's one thread that talks about catch cans. Essentially, they capture the oil vapor from the crankcase so it's not fed back into the combustion chamber.

All about perspective. Mine seem to wake up about 1K.

A very firm chassis (which the Camaro has) will control all aspects of the car much better than a lesser chassis. That control will make the car feel less excitable. If you watch any racing the cars that are set up better are much less exciting (scary) to drive as the car feels planted. That being said the Camaro's chassis is underpowered. Why? Because it can handle much more.

One thing to consider.
Big displacement engines (especially LS1, LS2, LS3, etc) deliver very smooth power. That can sometimes make the car feel slower than it really is.
I've been in cars that run 14s at the track that feel real fast when I'm behind the wheel. Then I can jump in a 12 sec Corvette and the car doesn't feel all that fast.

Smooth power delivery can make a very fast car seem much slower than it really is.

Lag is the first thing you upgrade and correct if you've done your homework on this site.

Some Clarity.

Check out what I actually said. I am not knocking the SS or the ZL1. I merely said that they don't have the snap I expected. I am sure many of you have hit the nail on the head with the break in period. I'm also confident, since there are threads on the subject that the feel can be corrected.

Let me repeat I think both the SS and ZL1 are awesome.

I was trying to give a perspective from a new guy to these Camaros. Bought my 2013 2LTRs only a few months ago and love it. The SS certainly feels faster than mine.

I do feel however that GM is missing the boat with the HP on their models. See what you think about what these cars should put out

ZL1 690 to 700 horsepower (Compete with Shelby Mustang)
Z28 560 to 600 horsepower (With lighter chassis and since this is an LS7 would be a monster
SS 470 to 500 horsepower (Compete with similar mustangs and SRT dodge cars and give this car an excellent choice for most of us.

LT V6 360 Horsepower to compete with similar mustang.

More options on factory axle ratios.

thanks to all and 'Itsbroke for answer on 'Catch can'.

By the way is there an app on car to check zero to sixty times, like Mustang has.

I don't have my SS yet, but I haven't read anything that tells me 0-60 times are measurable from MyLink or the Driver Info Center (DIC). There are however iPhone and I think Android phone apps for that. "Dynolicious" comes to mind. I had that one on my iPod and if I recall correctly it would measure 0-60 times.

Then what are you gonna do with the Vettes ? Can't have have them out performed by a Camaro. With the Mustangs and SRT8's, they are the top dogs for Ford and Dodge.

I think numbers on paper should be taken with a grain of salt. What you're reading are specs, not real world. The best way to know what the real HP numbers are is to look in the Dyno threads: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36676 & http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114824

Look for posts from members who've dyno'ed their stock trims.
