Thumbs up Lexus's M3 fighter

this was the cover story in the new issue of AutoWeek. called the IS-F, it is based on the Lexus IS350 rear drive sedan it has the same V8 engine (with a bit more oomph) as in the big LS460. rated at 416hp hooked to a 8 speed auto with paddle shifters. it should do well against the the 400hp V8 powered M3. Toyota tried this in the past when the first IS came out which originally had the same inline six that was in the Lexus SC300 coupe and the Toyota Supra. a Toyota tuner put in the V8 from the the LS430 into the IS car. but it was never produced, only built as a 'what if?' idea. the new car looks slick as hell, I know I wouldn't mind one .

First, that is the IS-F. It is in the same family as the IS250 and IS350, which is Lexus' smaller sporty sedan. The LS series is their full-size land yacht luxury sedan.

I'm not a fan of the styling, personally. I love the normal IS350, just not this. Also, it may match the M3 on paper, but from what I've heard it doesn't offer nearly the same feedback and just perfect connection between driver and machine that the M3 does.

I'd give it a test drive, and that's about it.

Other than the styling of the front fenders, it does nothing for me.

If I were looking for a 4-door performance sedan, the Lexus wouldn't even be on my radar screen.

um, i already said that in my first post that it was based off of the IS sedan and the engine is from the LS460 sedan .

Negative Dave, you said LS all through your post. I could see how you could make the mistake though. This is exactly why automakers need to stop this nonsense of not giving their vehicles proper names.

Yes. Personally, I think the styling of the quad tips looks amateurish.

Boo to fake quad exhausts. Tacky tacky tacky, and really devalues the faith Lexus puts into the sportiness of this car. Quad exhausts? I say

the car has dual exhausts just the mufflers have dual tips like a lot of cars have Lexus just made them vertical instead of horizontal .

probably the only 4 door performance sedan I would get would be the upcoming G8 or G8 GXP .
