Injen CAI RPMS?

alright my cai came in yesterday and i just got it installed today and it sounds awesome. I couldnt really tell if it gave any performance gain on the first ride out of my house but then again i know it takes time for the computer to read the new intake and adjust accordingly....but...

after about 10 or so min of leaving it on, I started revving it up and saw that it wont rev past 4500 RPMS. is this normal? like it held at 4600 RPMS~ and didnt go past that. Im assuming that this is just because the computer hasnt adjusted yet...right?

While you were sitting still? I believe that's the computer protecting the engine. You should be able to go to redline while driving.

The car won't rev much past 4000 while parked; that's a function of the ECU.

o good, i was a bit worried about that. but other than that I have no complaints. the fitment was pretty good, and it was a bit harder to isntall it with the tire still on but other than that everytthing look and sounds good.

somebody know how long till the computer full adapts to the new intake? couple days, 100 miles???

I dont think disconnecting the battery does much other than ensure you dont short out the power system by doing some strange thing by accident. You can clear the ECM short term memory - I dont think it helped at all but here ya go:

Under the hood is a fuse box. In that fuse box all the fuses are labled - there are two fuses that include "ECM" in the label. Remove both of those fuses. Doesn't take very long maybe 5 minutes or so then re-insert the fuses.

Start the car and you WILL get a CEL. This is the ECM telling you it has no short term memory and it thinks that might be a problem. The short term memory is what it uses to "fine tune" the parameters of engine operations.

Take the car out and vary your driving style for about an hour or so. The NEXT time you start your car the CEL will be off.

PS - my car also does the rev limited thing from idle. I like considering it launch control like or V8 friends have :-)

yeah, like people have said, if you have an automatic, it has a rev limiter to protect the engine.

as for me, i felt and heard the difference right away. but then again, a trifecta tune is needed for your computer to fully adjust to the HP gain, but not needed for just a CAI. Once you add that exhaust, and decide in the future to get LT headers, you would need that tune to get the max HP out of those mods.

I may be wrong. Please correct me if i am.
