To add a bit of info to the above comment, a line lock allows you to clean/heat the rear tires easily without the brakes applied to them. The front brakes stay locked so the car is controllable while you clean/heat the rear tires. This reduces stress/wear to the driveline as well as prevents damage/wear to the rear pads and rotors. When you're finished, you release the control switch and the car will roll foward (if you're rear wheels are still spinning). You've probably seen this many times from racers at the track.
Without a line lock, you would have to either step on the brakes and the gas and overcome the rear brakes to spin the tires or stomp on the gas and try to control the car from moving forward. Either way is not the best method and places additional stress and wear on your cars components...not to mention doesn't retain the same control over your car compared to using a line lock system. Here's a video demo of which a camaro5 member took using one of our kits on his car. I wish I knew his name, but it is a pretty good video that is self explanatory. He changed the circuit slightly. Normally, the LED turns on when you activate the master switch, not the control switch. |
