Trunk lid question

I think I remember reading that the '11 trunk lids do not have the post guiding holes for the rear bowtie that the '10's have, is this correct?

I want to add something like this

And not having to fill in (weld) the holes would be excellent if I can just buy a new trunk lid. This would allow me to remove the original trunk lid and keep it as a stock part .

Thanks bamaproshop for the inspiration & pic .

Yeah, and that traves me insane. Why the hell are their holes drilled in a trunk lid for a 6 oz piece of plastic that supports no weight?

Well from what I'm reading here there's a possibility I may not have holes in my trunk lid even though it's a '10. The guys in that thread have build dates before mine 5/14/10 and they have no holes so I might be lucky, would be nice to save me from buying another trunk lid.

I use the rear bowtie as a "handle" to close the trunk. At least with the 2010 the bowtie won't move, not sure how the 2011 will hold up over time.

I currently do this as well... That'll make closing the trunk a little more fun when that's gone, maybe I'll have to switch to the SS emblem, lol.

We designed those Camaro letters to cover the holes from the bowtie.
You will be fine whether you have holes or not.
I send out installation instructions with the letters. Here are pictures of my car that does have the holes from the bowtie, using the stainless letters

It's your guys lettering that I'm looking at . I just want them spaced more like the pic above.

Where I used the inner legs of the "M" ,and "A" to cover the holes, The outer can be used for wider spacing.
Thanks, Roger

Well I have holes :(, I'm going to send you a PM here in a couple minutes dragon, I have a sizing question.

On another note here's how to tell if you have pins/holes in your rear bowtie.

Tools you need

Scraper

Claw Hammer

Trunk Lid

What to do

Note that the cover is angled down for when you go to replace it

Slide scraper behind plastic cover between cover and trunk lid carpeting

Pry towards yourself

Do the same thing on this side (when popping this side make sure to hold the cover so it doesn't fly off)

Pry towards yourself

Plastic tabs on trunk latch cover

Slide scraper behind plastic pin between pin and trunk lid carpeting

Pry towards yourself

Slide claw of hammer between plastic pin and carpeting

Tap hammer end with hand so plastic pin slides between claw

Pry towards yourself and pop the plastic pin out

There are 11 pins in total

Next you need to remove the emergency trunk release handle, pull carpeting out and towards yourself then up

While pushing up on bottom of carpet pull down on emergency trunk release handle

Flip handle over

Tip handle down to remove metal pin from back of handle

Place finger behind metal pin and push towards yourself

Metal pin should pop out

Pull carpeting up and towards yourself letting metal pin slid through the carpeting

Bare trunk lid

Left side

Plastic pin :(

Right side

Plastic pin :(
