Smile What Supercharger For This Florida Heat

I have been doing a lot of reading and still I can not make up my mind about what S/C I should buy. My L99 is bone stock right now and would like to run somewhere in the 10's or low 11's. I do not want to lose the way the car drives as a daliy driver so I must keep that in mine. I also don't want to have to do any internal work. But the Florida Heat and humidity is murder for trying to keep temperatures down. I have read that different units use different ways of combating heat problems. I don't care if I need to run a BAP or the price just want to get the right unit and no troubles. I would one day like to add headers, free flowing cats and exhaust and if possible a CAI. Does anyone run these times with a L99 and drive it on the street every day? Can anyone suggest a S/C for my needs? Thanks for your help

You are not going to be able to run in the 10's with just a s/c. You will have to spend some money to get anywhere close to the 10's. Just saying.

John,

You will need the SC and a good torque converter and a trans build. Then with the right tires we can get you in the 10's.

If you want a supercharger that does not generate alot of heat then I would look at the Kenne Bell 2.8 or Whipple 2.9. With supporting mods like custom dyno tuning, Long tube Headers, CAI, the correct fuel system, tires, and suspension that car could easily do 10's and would drive not only good as stock but better than stock.

I run low 11's all day (looking for 10's in Ocotber/November), I have twin turbos, stall converter, meth, BaP, DR's and a tune...I drive it everyday (10-12k miles per year) and I live in hot/humid Florida.....

If you want a supercharger forthe heat, the Whipple`s IAT`s are lower than anybody elses blower.

If the intake air temp readings are sampled up stream from the throttle body and supercharger, how do you measure the air temp after it has entered the supercharger?

I am running a magnuson 2300 in Florida. During cruise conditions my intake air temps are two to three degrees above ambient, even when the ambient is in the 90's. During stop and go driving when ambient is in the 90's, the iat is usually about seven to ten above ambient even idling for a long traffic light. Now WOT is another story. On a 92 degree ambient day I logged an iat of 133 degrees at 115 MPH.

Get a top mount with a chiller. Lowest IAT's with charge air going through A/C. Don't know if anyone has one for the Camaro yet, but if IAT's are that important, wait for one. Just my .02

running a maggie 2300, live much farther south then you and temps are even hotter.. my intake manifold air temps while running have never gone over 135. and when running at 3000 rpm drop to 105deg. i know that after a long ride i have been able to put my hand on the top of the maggie, and yet it is hot it's not burning

IAT can be read by plugging into the OBD with a interface device.

My car was dynoed the same day as a maggie equipped camaro. My inlet air temp was about 80F his was 140+ and increased after each run. Mine remained stable. The whipple continues to pull until redline the maggie tends to fall off.
