Is anyone a police officer???

This is the worst camaro experience I have had and hopefully the last. So heres the story. Went Down Town to club in Austin, Tx and valet in front of several high class clubs. After get my keys from the valet I start up and pull forward into the right lane. Note that Im moving about 3 mph. Well 2 men driving a jeep wrangler cut me off and nudged the front left fender. They werent going to stop so I called the police to respond. I was pissed. I had my friend run them down to stop them while I quickly got their license plate number. Well they stop around the corner and when they approached me they were drunk as balls. Slurring their words and everything. I didn't have any respect for them and firmly told them to stand away from me and my car until the police arrived. Well of course after 40 mins of no police showing up the men started getting irritated and then started harassing me and trying to fight saying things like " You rich white boy punks have no respect for community." and stuff like that. So I was getting really annoyed and pissed off so I walked a bit down the street to relax. As I was waiting I hear the passenger starting yelling at a gang of thugs saying that I have no respect for minorities and they should kick my ass. Well after the gang heres this they start running at me saying dumb thug stuff. At this point I get scared because of the stories I hear about wannabe gangs in Austin. So I call 911 back. The gang surrounded me while I was on the phone with 911 and I preceded to say I was a Off Duty Police Officer and they need to step back and go the other way. Well It worked and they started to walk away talking bad about the Police. 911 was annoyed that I called twice so I was mad at that as well. So at this point was pissed off!!! Well the police showed up after another 20 mins so I feel safe about it. Well once they got there they didnt care that the guy was drunk they didnt care about the accident or the fact that I almost got shanked by wannabe Bloods, they were mad because they heard me say that I was a police officer to the gang members. They didnt write up anything on the accident rather writing up a report that I said I was an officer. Well I explained why I said it because I was in danger and it got me out of danger. So they said they "were" going to arrest me but ended up letting me go. They also said I was gonna be charged with a 3rd Degree Felony but I never got a citation or anything. Then they said I would probably have a warrant for my arrest. So I didnt have any clue that this was Illegal if its just words not flashing a badge or a gun. And telling a gang that alone. But after all that they said they arnt going to arrest me and they let the drunk driver go without writing a report on the accident. So I need to know whats yall's opinions are on this and If anyone on this thread is a police officer that knows about this please tell me. I have alot going for my life and im 22 years old in school to be an airline pilot and a felony would really ruin my life. I have never had a speeding ticket or anything on my record.

Call the press and get a story going. If you have names give them. That is all a crock and should have never happened. It is funny how when the police think it is not important they take their time. You could have been killed and they would have only gotten mad about the paper work.

Yes exactly and I told them that. I told the gang members that I was an officer in fear of my life not to commit a crime. I have been thinking about getting my concealed hand gun license and after this incident I will

Honestly if they are saying I would get a felony for telling some wannabe gang members that im a police officer and to walk away. I highly doubt I would have got away with shooting one of them

That is a story that unless I was on scene and could of interviewed both parties is very difficult to give you an opinion, but here is mine....

If you get a decent judge he should dismiss, but the cops were right in the fact that you met the statutory requirements for impersonating a police officer. No matter the level of fear you are in it won't justify identifying yourself as a cop. Funny thing, it probably would have justified you using force to defend yourself...even possibly deadly force if they were in the act of inflicting bodily harm...but still would not warrant you to ID as a cop. My guess is they were not 'gang members'. They were probably sh-- biscuits trying to act 'hard'. If they were really gang bangers and saw you were unarmed and out of uniform saying you were a cop may have actually made it much worse...

Basically in our state (i know it may be different in yours) reads something along the lines of identifying yourself as a police officer towards a civilian and the civilian's actions being altered by your statement or exhibition of badge/lights/siren so on....

Yours is a very weak case...from what it sounds like to me the officer wrote a report, but you were not arrested? If you were not charged you have nothing to worry about....if they refused to give you a crash report for the damage (if any) to your car ask for a supervisor...if the supervisor fails to provide you with one...you will either have to just pay the damages yourself or get a lawyer to press the police department or guy who caused the accident.

...and yes it is a felony. Generally I do not charge people with this offense unless they have blue lights in their vehicle pulling people over or in full apparel....while yours meets the requirements, it is very weak....if you aren't being charged just relax

Maybe you should rethink how you spend your Saturday nights. If you put yourself in a bad place stuff will happen. Night clubs are ideal for confrontations like this. Not to mention a waste of money.
