Need Help ! My Tuner can only Get 390 RWHP w/ my TVS 2300
OK, guys I am getting a little freaked out here.. I just had my TVS 2300 installed on my L99 and it had the Magnuson tune on it and it ran really strong....
I eventually went to my local tuner and he was only able to get 350 RWHP with the TVS 2300 -- CAI and Exhuast.... He said it was detonating to much so he had me buy new spark plugs that were colder than the Stock plugs... He then retuned it again and said it was no longer Detonating and that was good... He was then still only able to get the car to put out 390 RWHP before it started to Detonate again.... I am a little stressed here, because when the car was stock with a CAI and Exhaust, he was able to get 334 RWHP... Now with a $7000 SuperCharger, I have only gained 64 RWHP.....WTF ! My tuner said the only way I am going to get anything over 390 RWHP was to install headers.... I would think I should be getting atleast 450 RWHP without headers.... And with Headers maybe 500 RWHP..... One other thing is that, when he was done with the tune it idles like crap. It used to run smooth as silk at idle, now it feels like it is missing or something... The engine is shaking a little at stop lights... WTF!!!!! Help Me out guys.. Am I getting hosed here? He has a great reputation and I am confused..... Hard to say.
My first thought is he might be running the car in the wrong gear.If he is making the runs in 3rd gear the hp will drop alot.Should be running in 4th gear. 2nd would be - I found that the Maggies I do hate the Maggie timing table.They have it at 18 degree's in the higher rpm area and my load dyno would make it KR,even enough to hear it.So I run 12-14 degree's. Also,the belt drive system can sometimes set off KR.This you have to be carefull with but I sometimes have to soften the KR sensativity. Either way,it's probly something stupid. |

Something is definetly not right. Is it it possible you are losing boost? Clamp not tightended down enough, something similar?

Detonation is a serious lean issue. I assume you are using premium fuel. What AF did he set you up at? What boost level are you putting down? What compression are you putting down now. It almost seems like you might be already broke and running on a cylinder down. Good luck man hopefully someone else can chime in here other than showing empathy for your delima.

I am running the stock 3.8 pulley on the maggie... 6 PSi Boost
I am running the highest octane we have here and that is 91.... The maggie has only been on for a week or so and the car has only 7,000 miles on it... I am getting really irritated, because he charged me $300 today and said that is the best it will do... I am Pissed Off |

There is something not right bro. I think you might need to seek another tuner or contact Magnuson on the issue. What kind of dyno was this on?

Wow, somethings not right.
Have you contacted Magnuson??? Did it come with bigger injectors? Might be starving for fuel. My Vortec is giving me 460rwhp on my stock L99 with Corsa cat-back exhaust.

Can a tune From Ted Jannity be trusted? Will it damage my engine? will it be good without being on a Dyno....
I am just pissed off..LOL I waited for ever to get my Supercharger and now it isn't worth a shit..... There has to be something wrong.... He tunes cars that put out 1000 hp all day long...... |

Might need boost-a-pump fuel pump.
There are a lot of threads on maggies, should be some hints there. I don't think you can just bolt it up, more has to be done.
