Question Has anyone done anything interesting with their center speaker during an upgrade?

For example - put a new speaker in a custom enclosure, opened that area up a little more, swapped out the 3.5" that's in there with a component set, etc...?

I have a JBL MS-8 and it works best with a quality center channel so I'm looking for some ideas to get the most out of that area but as you know, it's pretty limited, especially in the depth of the opening.

If you have done something besides simply swapping it out with another 3.5" speaker, can you post a pic?

Thanks

The subject of what to fill the hole up was discussed in the speaker delete thread.

One of the ideas was to fill the hole with a gage pod. Here is an example.

It's the speaker for the 9500ci and the chimes.

Thanks, I saw that thread but I'm actually trying to get another / better center speaker in there. A shallow 4" with a separate tweeter is about all that would fit in that hole with some minor fabrication.

Or I could have a pod built that's measured to hold something like two 3" full range speakers in a sealed enclosure.

That's an interesting gauge pod btw, doesn't look completely out of place from that angle. Wonder what it would look like with speakers in it!

Build one and show us how it looks.

Seriously thou, let us know what you come up with, I didn’t cut my wire and would be willing to put a speaker back in if it sounds good.

Thanks
