Lightbulb Enviromentalists' opinion!

Hello Camaro5! I've been a long time lurker, and have finally decided to throw a post out to start getting more involved.

My info - I'm a 20 year old college student just about ready to purchase a 2010 Camaro 2SS (possibly no RS! :() L99 in either black, CGM, or Rally Yellow. I currently drive a 2001 Acura TL (upscale beater, haha) with over 110k miles on it, and generally a lot of minor issues. I am pretty sure the 225hp it came with has dwindled down to 180, at most.

My reason for posting -
I'm about to go out to lunch with a girl that I met in college (yes, I'm still in) that is:
1. Vegetarian
2. An environmentalist (an active officer in a student environmental club at my university)

I am going to ask her how she feels about a 6.2 liter V8 rumbling around everyday burning fuel and rubber at every light, and what she thinks of my stand on having meat in every meal.

I'll post the results on this post later on! Wish me luck!

Results Edit:
Hey guys! I just want to clear some things up before I go further. I'm not looking to dating this girl. It was just a friendly lunch... at a fine vegetarian establishment that insists on its customers being hungry after they eat. Needless to say, 2 hours later I was starving again. I'm going to start listing random things that I remember from the passed 4 hours (it was longer than I expected).
-Basically, I explained that the reason I wanted a big V8 was because I only live once. Petrol powered cars are going to die out sooner or later, and so am I. We were made for one another. She agreed, and said it was fine if I went and got an electric or hybrid later on in life.
-She was perfectly fine with people wanting performance vehicles, and even brought up the Tesla. She even knew that it was over $100k and not very practical.
-We discussed hybrids, full electrics, and the Honda Clarity (hydrogen fuel cells). She was very fond of these cars as they emit very low or no emissions, and can get you from A to B given the right conditions. I argued that electric/hydrogen powered cars weren't possible yet, due to the entire world being made for petrol cars.

>>She provided a good argument. Why would you need EXCESS in a car? Why get a 400hp V8 Camaro when you can get a Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, or even indulge a little and get something like a Camry? Technically, there is no need for that much power. However, I was adamant on proving my point of why people love their toys. I pulled up to a stop light. Dropped into neutral, and revved several times up to about 3500 rpm, creating sufficient engine (not exhaust :() noise with the windows down to make my lovely guest go quiet and listen. We looked at each other - me with a gleeful childish face, and her with a "I get your drift" smile. The light turns green, and out of nowhere, a Pontiac G6 guns it on my left hand side. I didn't even know that thing was there. I throw the shifter into the semi-manual and gun it. The engine roars to the redline in 2nd gear, and the economy Pontiac had been put to shame by a 2 ton, 9 year old, family sedan. She looked at me, and smiled. She now wants a ride in my future Camaro.

All in all, the conversation went very well. We are polar opposites, but are easily accepting of each other's views. Well, she's fine with mine. The funny part is she came back to my place and got on my laptop and SAW THIS POST!! She pointed at it and laughed! I distracted her before she could click on it.

tell her that forcing other people to be green is just another way to take away personal liberty and is a scam run by people who aim to profit from green "initiatives"

Welcome

You never know how someone will take it. My wife and my myself would be considered environmentalist but I have her convinced to buy a Camaro (it is just how much to spend that is the problem now). She doesn't care about the gas mileage because we carpool together already. And in the real world I think the Camaro will get better gas mileage than my GXP.

I never said that I was going to try and convince her of anything. I just want to hear a response.

Tell her since all is pointing towards a global cooling, that the SS Camaro V8 will help out in warming the planet when the time comes
