22 inch rims and tires

I currently have a set of 22 inch rims and the following tires:
Front 255/30/R22/ and Rear 305/25/R22. I am new to this whole thing and had no idea the 22 inch rims and tire combo would leave me with such thin sidewalls. Is there anyway to get bigger tires with a thicker sidewall

How thin is the sidewall by chance? I am curious. Is it less than an inch of rubber there between the rim and the road?

I'm new to this stuff too.

Going by Nine Ball's chart, you could have gotten a little more sidewall with a 35 series up front and 30 in the rear.

I can explain that for you... so the tires have three numbers, arranged like this:
P275/40R20... The first number is the width of the tire in millimeters. The second number (40) is the height of the sidewall as a percentage of the tire's width, called the aspect ratio. So a 275mm wide tire with a sidewall aspect ratio of 40, would have a sidewall of 275*0.4=110mm. The last number is just the diameter of wheels you have, in inches, which is 20inches in this case. It's a little confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's not so bad.

Oh and don't worry too much about the P and R. The P just means passenger tire, the R just means radial construction. Nothing to do with size.
