What percentage of V-6 manual tranny owners actually have tranny problems ?

How many owners of the V-6 MANUAL transmission Camaro's really have trannsmission problems. I am thinking about buying one this week but after some of the posts I have read on here I am a little reluctant. If it is 1 car in 10 with problems that does not bother me , if it is 1 car in 3 that does. I hate to think about an auto. I might wait for a 2012 and hope the tranny problems are corrected, but Gm card just increased my dollars from $173 to $2000.00, it expires in 1 week. Anyway let me hear about your V-6 Manual tranny Cars, good and bad.

I have a 2011 LS. It's in the garage for the winter right now but I have over 3,000 miles on it and have not had any tranny problems at all thus far.

oh yea it is a manual

Have you checked out this tread. If your referring to complaints concerning gear grind, then yes there are issues. The problem in my opinion is that people are expecting the Aisin Ay6 M6 trasmission to perform like a performance/racing transmission, which it wasn`t never intended to be.

I haven`t had any issues with mine but then again I don`t speed/power shift it on a regular basis either.

About 500 miles and no trouble, it is the garage for the winter. Plan on installing a MGW shifter when they become available in a couple of months.

10.5k and i think the throwout bearing is bad (unconfirmed).

Should be warranted, though, and heard it since the begining, so it might have just been bad out the door. Love the car though.

Here's my advice....go drive both and see which one you prefer. Both come with a 5yr/100k mile powertrain warranty. If you want the manual, get it. If it breaks, get it fixed under the warranty.

I second mickss. People expect more out of the trans. I did have my trans out to look at an issue (difficult to put in gear at times), and my pressure plate bolts ending up being loose. There's a TSB for this. Repaired under warranty.

Oh, and I've never had a gear grind either...
