X pipe or Straight pipe

Hi There guys,

Spent the whole evening yesterday with my friend at the exhaust shop to install his Corsa Cat back.

I have already a Magna Flow Cat back on my 1LT and we were both excited to hear the sound difference.

He was a bit upset, because my exhaust was louder but when I took his car for a pull, his air flow was far much better than me.

I think that because of the middle piping of the resonator mine was louder and his was faster.

Corsa comes with 2 straight pipes resonated and Magna flow comes with a resonated X pipe.

Please feel free to share your opinions and experiences. It really made a difference in performance that I was not aware of !

Odd. I thought the res x was designed for more power, especially the bottom to mid range and isn't restrictive. Corsa didn't make more then 5 on the dyno either, but who knows? I dont see how one is faster then the other due to a different catback and all are free flowing, cant be 1-2 hp difference.

Well I was really supprised by the response of his car. He has no other modes but frankly speaking he told me that he uses the car daily on long trips through the weekends, while I use it less frequently on high ways..

But that sounds weird too !!

Did anybody took the Magna flow Catback on a dyno to see how much it makes comparing to the Corsa?

Leonardo just had one put on his new car but also an injen short ram so no before or after possible, only one I now here that has one.
So his car is the same as yours as far as trans and all and he just has the cat? That is odd. Then maybe he has more miles on his car and it makes more power as more broken in? I know our old ls1's could get faster even up to 25000 miles!
On the dyno note, remember jre's intake test and that airaid made more bottom torque then injen? I just swapped out my airaid for injen and on the street injen has more and runs smoother and stonger!

Yep, thats strange...hrmm...these cars are very confusing! They say these new ECU's adapt to the owners driving style....could it be that his car is adapter more for a performance type driving than yours? (just throwing out guesses here lol).

I guess only real way to know if for someone that has a resonated X to swap out for straights, or visa versa and get it on the dyno, or try and see if there is a better seat of the pants feel.

I have the X, but doubt I'll be swappin it out for straight pipe or resonated straights anytime soon! lol.
