GM/CHEVY customer service
how is their customer service overall. i will be a new camaro owner very soon. Just wondering how their customer service is AFTER you buy your car. Like if you have problems after you buy the car.
also, i am buying my camaro from a dealership outside of the city since they are giving me the best deal, however if i have to do some maintenance work do i HAVE to go back to the dealership i bought the car from or can i go to any dealership near where i live? |

In all likelihood, you won't be talking to Chevrolet. Most of your contact is with your dealer, and your dealer is an idiot. It is important to be very clear and articulate with your dealer to make sure that you get what you expect.

I went to my large local dealer to test drive the Camaro in the snow to see how it handles. They wouldn't even let me start it up. I went to a little dealer outside of town who is given me a better deal and and let test drive 3 different models. Just remember, if one dealer wont take care of you doesn't mean another wont. |

the problem is, the dealer i am dealing with is 2.5 hours away. so after i get the car here, i will have to go to other dealerships for my car troubles. so i was wondering if all gm dealerships have good customer service and legit customer service. |

You already know most of my story. But I will just tell you here that you don't have to take the car for service to the same dealership you bought it from. Take it for service to a place that treats you right, even if you have to drive farther to take it to them. It will be worth it! Finally, i'll tell you that in my experience, when my dealership was no longer willing to help with my problem, I had to escalate to GM. They were very apologetic and helpful, all the way up until the point that someone decided it was "working as designed." From then on, the same people who had previously said, "oh that's terrible that it's doing that, we will definitely take care of this" started saying "well that's normal." They never let me talk with anyone actually technical, or anyone in a position to make a decision. So in the end, I would say that as long as the dealership is handling any problems that come up to your satisfaction, you're fine. If you have to escalate to GM and they agree with your position, then you're fine because they'll get the dealership in line. It's only if GM decides that solving your problem will be too expensive and not worthwhile for them to do that you're in trouble.

![]() I lucked out the new small town dealership I go to my old sales manager works their now. THEY are awesome they gave me a huge bag of homemade carmels for x-mas and the owner gave me some delicious chocolate pretzel sticks. They HAVE helped me out in more ways than one ha! I had another local dealer lose my business a few years ago. They would claim to fix broken parts on your car and THEY were never fixed when I took it another dealership. Then they wouldn't sell me a G6 a few years ago when I had the pre-approval certificate in my hand because I didn't have a co-signer. I took my $28,000 sale to another dealership and had my car within a week by myself I could go on and on but trust me I don't have all nite

It really depends. My dealer is fantastic. Everyone is on the same page. I get prompt calls and or attention. They really treat us well and they are the largest Chevy dealer in the Tampa area. They do not act like it though.

Ouch! My dealer is a 54 mile round trip. I can't stand the dealer in my town so I take my business in the next county over.

I guess you can hope for good service, even though you did not give them the courtesy of doing business with you. When you get so-so service from a nearby dealer that you didn't support, you can't really complain. |
