G80 Clunking in left turns ONLY.

Pretty simple. Clutch in, turn tight to the left and I get a clunking that's light and sounds like the locker is trying to compensate or slip. Heard about a similar issue with 5th gens (non G80 but it's an identical symptom) and the TSB said it was a lubrication/break in issue.

Think this could be the case? Dry spots on the gears causing slippage and the resulting clunk?

My 02 B4C has done that from new......drove two others just to satisfy myself it was the nature of the beast.
I ordered the car, new, and it only has about 5500 miles now......the sound has never worsened.
I did add the G.M. posi additive just because it has a friction modifier in it.....normally the stuff is only used in clutch type rear ends.
I kinda do it to myself on left turns by shifting to second mid-turn......those moments where the rear end is unloaded is when I hear it, uh, chatter or clank lightly for lack of a better term.

I'd recommend not fretting over it.....just enjoy the car.

BTW, I was reading your story about aquiring the bird.....congrats and sounds like a great find.

Well an update to this, turns out it's a combination of normal posi noise and the fact that both rear wheel bearings are shot. Up on a lift I got 10* deflection out of both wheels. Needless to say those bearings are done after sitting on the car for 10 years.

8 or so of those probably not even moving wearing a flat spot in the bearing itself.
