How much headroom does the sunroof take away?

I finally had the chance to go to a Camaro dealership (they are few and far between where I live), and finally had the chance to look at a Camaro up close.

I was quite disappointed when I sat in the car, and I couldn't fit because there was not enough head room! I am not exactly a huge guy, probably a couple of inches above 6ft, yet I had to seriously tilt my head to sit in the car, with the seat in its lowest position.

The vehicle was equipped with a sunroof, and there were no cars without sunroof, but I was told that the sunroof does take away quite a bit of headroom. Is that so? Would I be able to fit comfortably in a non-sunroof Camaro?

Thanks for any help anyone may be able to give.

I experienced the same thing (6'3). I hadn't thought beyond "oh well guess I'll go home." And then I saw her... A few thousand miles later and I couldn't be happier with my coupe.

1.5 inches to 2.0 inches is my best guess, as mentioned.

It will really depend on your individual proportions. There are people who are 6'5" on this forum who fit just fine in a sunroof car. And there are a bunch of us in the 6'3" range and a few shorter than that, that cannot fit comfortably in a sunroof car. Really depends on the length of your torso more than anything else.

Dude! I've got no sunroof and, with the seat at its lowest possible position, my noodle is brushing up against the roof all the time. When I make a pass at the drag strip, wearing my helmet, my vertebrae are being seriously compressed. I stand 5'10" in my stockin' feet. Can you say you are that much shorter in height?

I know for me, I have the seat all the way down and all the way back. The steering wheel does telescope, if you didn't already know that. That means, not only will it tilt up and down, it will also move in and out some. I have to use that option to pull the steering wheel a bit towards me to compensate for being all the way back with the seat.

Im fairly certain you only lose 1/2 inch. the lose is so little because the sunroof rolls up onto the roof, not into the roof which is the reason for this design. to preserve head room.

I'm 6'4 and got the sunroof, drop the seat down and back all the way. And you are good to go. Havn't tried a Helmet yet, but you only have it on a few seconds. Either way you will love her !!

I think there is more head room in the sunroof cars. prob just feels more open
Im 6' and 325. I fit just fine
its fluffy sized!
lower the seat all the way down, wether it be power or manual adjust, and move the seat back a bit. I have no issues with head room or leg room or width. If I fit comfortably, no way someone else shouldnt fit. I have a friend who is 6'7 that has one. he has his seat all the way back and fits fine.

I'm 6"3" and have the sunroof, it's tight but I fit. A helmet might be a problem, haven't tried that yet.

If there's no way you fit, I think you get about an inch without the sunroof. Even with the roof closed and just the panel open I think it really makes it nicer to drive.

I'm glad I'm shorter (5'7") than the ones having issues. I fit just fine!
