Anyone understand German?

It's the classic arguement that the corvette is half the price and performs just as well as the supercars. Pretty cool to watch even if you can't understand it.

I think that at around 02:20 minutes into that second video, he launched the Vette in 6th! Like we've all heard you could do. That is truly amazing to me.

I love the Vette so much more than the other "supercars" simply for it's value, power and style. Oh, yeah...and we built it!

Launched in 6th, I've never heard of that...that rules.

I launched my car in 2nd once and thought that was pretty cool, but 6th damn.


That is indeed the basic argument, Corvette Z06 competes with the supercars for a fraction of the price, and it is completely valid and cannot be igonored.


In addition to what the others have said, I like the way the Corvette looks way better than Lambos and Porsches.

Shoot...I take off in 2nd all the time. I usually shift from 2nd to 4th and to 6th. However, in my last Z28, the tranny went out and it was stuck in 4th. I drove it home a couple miles w/ plenty of stop and go and it being stuck in 4th.

I meant really launch....like launch hard at high rpm without bogging or anything.

Unless your racing, 1st is a bit of a joke IMO. I mean in street traffic - your good for MAYBE 20 mph...without making lots of noise. If I had a stick...which I think is what I'll get...I'd lauch it in 2nd often...

But yeah. GM was selling the Vette, saying that it's so powerful, you can launch it in 6th...though, they don't reccomend it

No I agree, and my exhaust is pretty loud anywhere over 3000 rpm so if I want to be quiet I start in 2nd.

Still when I hear launching, I imagine drag strips and well...launching. Not simply taking off from a stop. So that is why I was impressed by the launch in 6th gear, but I am now guessing they just started the Z06 in 6th, which is still cool, but it wasn't what I was originally picturing.

Poor Choice of words, I guess. To me, launch just meant "start". I should've used something like: began, or started off, or something...

Ive always had this arguement with my friend who's a ferrari fanatic. the ZO6 is 75% if a ferrari F430, for 25% of the price. so to me the corvette is a no brainer. If I won a million dollars Id buy a vette, get a ferrari or lambo Ill go broke payin for maint.

corvette= an attainable dream

That's funny. I was just working on a show about how lottery winners lives' changed. Three of the people in the show bought Z06 Vettes. One guy has a great quote "Every lottery winner should buy one of these!"

ive got the magazine itself. its a shame they had an oil leak. they also needed a driver mod.

Well, the oil leak was random...they said the engineers, or whoever, had never seen that happen before, and it wasn't serious, so it's whatever In one shot it still came within striking distance of the Veyron.
