My First Car!!!
A camaro, naturally.
It's a black 1994 with the 3.4 liter V6 and automatic :( But it's all right 'cause the insurance is cheap and i'm still in high school so i need all the money i can save. It came with a sub box and a nice CD player that i have yet to install. i'll get some pics up as soon as i can.

2010 here. I'll be a Senior in college, and I'll have a job waiting for me as I get out. I want this car as soon as possible, or else I'd wait untill after college.

I never finished college.
now I can't afford to go to school and live simultaneously. I got lucky with a good job making 41k a year. That's just barely enough to squeak by not living in the streets here in the bay. Cost of Living SUCKS! |

I'm so damn close to my AS...but my 8.5 years in a technical field in the Navy did wonders for a resumé.
Me and GF are trying to decide who it's smarter getting the degree first. Probably me since I'm closer. I dunno. |

Congratulations, Frodo!!! Not only is it your fisrt car, but it's a Camaro! That's pretty cool. Just a bit of advice...first cars are usually run into the ground because we don't pay attention to all the little stuff...and will sometimes be a little harder on it than we should. Change that oil, get it it's regular check ups at the dealer or shop. And don't run it into the ground. It'll last you a long time until you can upgrade.
My degree in Crim Justice gets me an extra $350 per month and also also allows me quicker raises in my PO license. It goes: basic, intermediate, advanced, and masters peace officer license. W/out my degree, I would have had to wait another 3 years to get my intermediate, and would have to wait longer for the others as well. I'm so glad I knocked all that school out of the way. I've had offers to go back from certain professors and I'm like...heck no. I'm sick of the 25/30 page papers. I won't need my masters anytime soon...and we only get like $20 more per month by havint. That extra cash per month makes a big difference for me. $350 per month = $4,200 per year. That college tuition is getting paid back. |

Awesome that your first car was a camaro. My first camaro would have been about my 10th car and it was 1989 V6 5 speed. It joined my 1996 SS S-10. So two v6's but both were fun.
Had a few stangs in my time and for a 18 yr old they were cheaper to buy and mod. notch and hatch 88, 89 5.0's. Never had a chance when racing my friend who had a 1996 z28 a4. Finish school and go to college if you can. I wouldn't be able to buy the things I have now at age 27 if I hadn't gone to college. |

But, like yourself, I managed to get a decent paying job with the NJ Dept. of Corrections (Civilian, not officer) currently making about $45,000 a year. Plus the fantastic State Employee benefits. While cost of living is generally high in NJ I have plenty of 'disposable cash' (I probably 'burn' $400-$600 a month). But I believe your area probably has a much higher cost of living than even NJ. I do own my own home. But keep in mind, I have no (and never will have) devil children to suck my money dry. LOL |

No longer own the SS. I think my wife misses it more then me. I tired to buy it back a few years later from the punk kid who bought on ebay. Was high bidder but he "sold it local" the next day for more. Damn thing had a body kit and spinners on it!!!!!!!!!!!! AWWWWWWWWWWWWW
