Engine Block Swap ?

This may be a very Stupid Question and if so, My bad . Is it posible to just swap out my 6.2L L99 Block for a LS7 7L Engine block or would i haft to buy the complete Crate Motor from GM ? And if so what would i haft to do to make this work ? My plan is as of now to just Supercharge My L99 with a Vortec and i just came by a 7.0 Liter LS7 Z06 Block and thought it would be sick to make the SS a 7.0L But had no idea if it was posible to just swap blocks or is there more to it ?

Thanks for the Answers

I assume by block you mean the whole engine right? People have put in 7.0L and 7.4L in their Camaros, but I think you're looking to spend some $$$$$$ doing it.

yes it can be done, i think it would be easier to just put a complete crate motor or a built motor from a reputible engine builder. also talk to you local performance shops and see what they recomend. also what are your performance goals. also remember anything can be done for the right amount of $$$$

If you have a good performance shop near you, the engine swap isn't that hard. An LS9 motor is pretty difficult, but the LS7 is easier. It does require proper tuning and programming, though.

A ton more to it. The LS7 is a pretty unique engine. Different heads, block, intake, oil system... A crate motor would be easier

You can re-use your stock oil pan and pick up with a LS7 no problem, you would need to get sum custom headers to fit the exhaust ports but other then that its not that bad. Jus sayin

If the OP is talking about swapping a whole motor, then no, there's not a ton more to it. It just takes a knowledgable shop and good tuner. If he's talking about just the LS7 block with no internals, then obviously it would cost more, but still not bad with the right shop and tuner. All the LS motors are based on the same platform, so the biggest problem is programming the computer, IMHO.

Tuning is also very easy, its not some dark science. Like you said you just need the right shop or just the right tuner

Also the snout of the forged LS7 crank need to be shortened and a keyway cut into the nose. Easier to use an aftermarket forged LS3 crank or factory L99 cast crank. Also, you will drill the block to provide for a dip stick unless you stay dry sump. Some other details as well.

They way I read it you want to use the LS7 cylinder block to repalce your L99 and make a blower engine out of it...
Not a good idea.... on a few levels

No need for custom headers...ARH worked just fine.
