Help to adjust the alignment of the door

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knows if its possible to adjust the alignment of… to be specific the passenger door. I am sure nobody else will notice , it sticks out about maybe an 1/8”, but I do and want to see if I can get it to line up with the body just a tad better. Is it just a matter of loosening and adjusting the latch at the top where the doors closes to meet the body or would I need to do something more? Door is straight just slightly sticks out. Sitting at work I don’t have the tools or I would just go loosen the latch now and try. But as I sit here and over think it , that might not be a good idea. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Sorry mods if this is not in the right place, feel free to move it.

Thanks.

This is a simple fix. All you have to do is call an make an appointment with your dealer.

That's weird because I do notice (both) doors that the front where it meets the fenders, are more in (for the lack of words) roughly a millimeter or so.

Yes, I know. I had it in to get the spoiler paint chip issue fixed a bit ago and also get the black out planel done too. So I didnt want to be with out my car again , at least not right now. So I was hoping to see if I could fix it myself.

I'm guessing the door is "sticking out" from the rear quarter. You actually want it flush to "proud" ~.5mm so that it doesn't act like a wall and create wind noise while you are driving. You can probably adjust the striker on the B pillar (round knob that the latch catches when it closes) a 1/2 mm.

If your door is sticking out relative to the front fender then the proper adjustment is to loosen the bolts that hold the hinge to the rear door and move the entire door inboard relative to the hinge. If I'm not making sense, I can post up some pics.

Its the part at the rear quarter. I think I gotcha, when I get home tonight I will give it a shot and see. The latch has 2 screws, and from your response its as I thought and not more complicated then I thought. I can just loosen them and move the latch a tad in towards the passenger seat. Should be good to go after that. Thanks!

Did you ever fix your door. I just picked up a 2012 2LT convertible and
my passenger door, all along the bottom is in about 1/4 inch. The side
seams (from top to bottom are even). It just looks like the door at the
bottom is pushed in too far.

Mine was like that after being repaired. I took it back in and the body shop adjusted it - now it lines up perfectly, top and bottom.

I've got the same issue with my passenger door on my V6 2LT. It sticks out 1/4 of an inch down the whole side of the door as if I didn't close the door properly. I'll most likely take it to the dealer and have them align it, if possible.

I read in a book Making of the 5Th generation Camaro that the Camaro 5 have the longest doors on the market at this time. So the longest the door, the more difficult to align.

Easy Fix

Wow thanks Guys !!! I was searching the same issue ... found this thread ... I find the the two screws and they were loose. I lightly tapped the striker plate inwards ... give them a tighten and bingo the door is perfect !!!! Who hoo ... mark this down in history ... a fix that didn't take me all day !!! : )
