I used Royal Purple 75w-90 in mine. Yes, 1QT filled it up.

You need to use a 75w-90 gear oil. If it doesn't come with it, you need to add a limited slip differential additive. I believe Royal Purple already has the additive. I used Mobil 1 75w-90 LS which already has the additive in it (the "LS" stands for "Limited Slip").

Should I change it after the first 1000 miles or so? I bet it is full of metal shavings already.

Edit: Looks like a pain to get to now with the flowmaster cat back system installed.

Mine has been changed several times... dont ask... I use Mobil 1 LS. You can add the additive if you want. Read the label on the bottle it says that for "extreme performance cars" to add the additive... just depends on if you feel your driving is "extreme"

I also changed my tranny to Mobil 1 ATF... WOW major imporvement.

I purchased Royal Purple also. I will be changing mine in the near future. I have almost 10K miles on mine. A lot of guys were changing it after a few thousand miles.

I changed it at like 7k miles. In all honesty I probably wouldn't have done it had I not had the extra quart left over from recently changing the Dana 80 in the rear of my diesel (like 7 qts!!!).

Mobil 1 synthetic 75W90
Mobil 1 synthetic ATF

Don't forget that Mobil 1 is endorsed ang highly recommend by GM engineering
for a number of reasons.Mobil 1 is a excellent quality synthetic to use.

I used Mobil 1 LS and, even though "LS" is supposed to mean limited slip, it chattered pretty badly. Changed to regular Mobil 1 and a bottle of the GM additive and all is well.
