2011 SS Tire relearn TPMS

So, I was inflating my tires and the manual was in the house. The info didnt seem to be changing as I was airing them up. Not trusting my tire gauge to be accurate enough I pushed "relearn" thinking it would check the pressure. It reset all my pressures to 32psi on the display.
I searched this and there is supposed to be a method on page 9-60 but the page 9-60 in the 2011 manual is about trailer brakes. I cant find it anywhere. Any help would be appreciated.

I believe once you press relearn you are supposed to let the air (1psi) out at each tire starting at front driver then moving back and around. The car beeps once it recognizes the sensor and signals you to move to the next tire.

Doesn't make sense.

Relearn sets it to realearn mode. Where you'd start with the front passenger side and work your way to the rear passenger, rear driver, and finally the front driver side, each wheel you let air out unitl it beeps moving on to the next and finally it beeps twice. Then turn the car off and inflate the tires and drive it.

They all set to 32? I don't get it.

I have done this before when I put my winter tires on. Once you press relearn, you have to either deflate or inflate the tires, one by one, until the horn sounds for each tire and twice at the end. You start with the front driver, move to the front passenger, rear passenger, and rear driver. I would suggest deflating them as to not over-inflate, then once they are all learned, go around and inflate each tire. The dic should update after this process has been completed and you should be able to see each reading live.
Again, it is in the 2010 manual, 9-62.
10-62 in the 2011
Hope this helps

Yeah, they were 33psi right front, 32 left front, 38 right rear, 37 left rear. I hit relearn, the car honked twice and all tires said 32psi

So what happened was the car went into learn mode and forgot all the sensors.
It probably would have beeped a couple more times in 2 minutes if none of the tire pressures changed. You will probably have to relearn...

Weird. The sensors read air pressure. You got them to read it differently?

From the owners manual
Quote:
TPMS Sensor Matching
Process
Each TPMS sensor has a unique
identification code. Any time you
replace one or more of the TPMS
sensors or rotate your vehicle's
tires, the identification codes need
to be matched to the new tire/wheel
position. The sensors are matched
to the tire/wheel positions in the
following order: driver side front tire,
passenger side front tire, passenger
side rear tire, and driver side rear
tire using a TPMS diagnostic tool.
See your dealer for service.
The TPMS sensors can also be
matched to each tire/wheel position
by increasing or decreasing the
tire's air pressure. If increasing the
tire's air pressure, do not exceed
the maximum inflation pressure
indicated on the tire's sidewall.
To decrease the tire's air-pressure
use the pointed end of the valve
cap, a pencil-style air pressure
gauge, or a key.
You have two minutes to match
the first tire/wheel position, and
five minutes overall, to match all
four tire/wheel positions. If it takes
longer than two minutes, to match
the first tire and wheel, or more than
five minutes to match all four tire
and wheel positions, the matching
process stops and you need to
start over.
The TPMS matching process is
outlined below:
1. Set the parking brake.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON/RUN with the engine off.
3. Go to the TPM vehicle information screen on the DIC. See Driver Information Center (DIC) on page 4‐28. Press set to relearn the sensors. The horn sounds twice to signal the receiver is in relearn mode and Tire Learning Active message displays on the DIC screen.
4. Start with the driver side front tire.
5. Remove the valve cap from the valve stem. Activate the TPMS sensor by increasing or decreasing the tire's air pressure for 10 seconds, or until a horn chirp sounds. The horn chirp, which can take up to 30 seconds to sound, confirms that the TPMS sensor identification code has been matched to this tire position.
6. Proceed to the passenger side front tire, and repeat the procedure in Step 5.
7. Proceed to the passenger side rear tire, and repeat the procedure in Step 5.
8. Proceed to the driver side rear tire, and repeat the procedure in Step 5.
9. After hearing the confirming horn chirp, for the driver side rear tire, the horn sounds two more times to signal the tire learning mode is no longer active. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK/OFF.
10. Set all four tires to the recommended air pressure level as indicated on the tire and loading information label.
11. Put the valve caps back on the valve stems.
The tires air pressure will not
appear on the screen until you start
driving the vehicle.

Wait. I always started with the front passenger.

And I know it read the possition right becasue I still have a slow leak in the front passenger so I add air and it reads correctly.

WTF?

And why did the OPs pressure all set to an improper number?

I got one for ya. I never did this by the manual. I used my pressure gauge and filled the tires accordingly. Then i pressed the relearn and the horn beeped twice. After approx. a minute or so the DIC read the new pressure of the tires.
Now i have a '10 SS if that makes a difference?

Mine is a 2010 SS as well. Very early build.

I suppose I could maaaaaaaybe be mistaken but I've had to reset my sensors about 5 times now. I'm a little freaked out.

BUT, I do know the sensors, like a tire gauge, already read tire pressure. You just match the sensor up to the tire possitions when you pair them. You can't change the pressure they read.

Not sure about the order, if it worked, then who knows? As for it setting to an improper #, I think it just defaulted everything to 32 because it wasn't actually taking a reading from the sensors?

The only thing I can think of is that when you hit relearn, it went into learn mode, and then because nothing happened it went back to the previous sensor settings so it may not have changed anything? When I did it the first time, I got the first 2 tires to learn, and not the last 2 in time, and it wouldn't read anything. Maybe this is different in your case because nothing actually changed? Pure speculation though.
