On a budget; C.A.I. or Axel back first?
I'm going to get 1 or the other, but both will be stretching my budget for now. I want a more aggressive tone from the exhaust but I'd like the HP bump from a CAI.
I'm thinking Vararam cai and SLP LMII axel back. Any suggestions?

I want both, haha.
I could just get one now, and in 2 months get the other.

You are missing the best option, a CAI Inc. CAI and muffler delete!
Good luck no matter which route you go.

Go with air intake first. Then, get the exhaust.

I went with the CAI Inc. first and then the borla axleback about 8 months later. I could install the CAI Inc myself, so did it first. Used a muffler shop to cut and install the new axleback. If I was not such a warranty chicken, the tune from Jannetty would be next.

On an LS3 six speed manual, I'd go with a CAI and have my muffler shop cut out the rear trash cans.
On an L99 automatic, I'd go with the Solo axlebacks with tunable j-pipes and quad tips. |

I'd go with a tune first, especially if you have a L99. Just turning off torque management and AFM was worth the $399.00. Best mod I've done, by far.

I'd get a SCT tuner and let JRE do a custom tune first, then after you buy your cai, etc. you be able to adjust as necessary and get the most out of the other mods. If I had to pick between the exhaust and the cai, I would go with the exhaust. Neither one is going to make a big hp difference on its own and at least the exhaust will sound cool.

Hmm...tough call...I put my exhaust on first cuz I couldn't stand having a silent SS..but with that being said after the install of my CAI inc. I could actually feel a difference in throttle response and the car def. Pulled harder in the upper rpms...and it did change the exhaust note so I don't know...I would go with the intake first..it will make the car a little louder and more throaty and will pick up some power.
