is this only in NY or its the same in other states that have laws for front license plates..

Title 4. Article 14

402. Distinctive number; form of number plates; trailers. 1. (a) No person shall operate, drive or park a motor vehicle on the public highways of this state unless such vehicle shall have a distinctive number assigned to it by the commissioner and a set of number plates issued by the commissioner with a number and other identification matter if any, corresponding to that of the certificate of registration conspicuously displayed, one on the front and one on the rear of such vehicle, each securely fastened so as to prevent the same from swinging and placed, whenever reasonably possible, not higher than forty-eight inches and not lower than twelve inches from the ground; provided, however, that in any registration year for which only one number plate is issued, such number plate shall constitute a set of number plates for the time in which such use is authorized, shall be displayed on the rear of the vehicle and none shall be displayed on its front, except in case of a tractor, when such number plate shall be displayed on the front of the vehicle and none shall be displayed on its rear.

so the hide and go bracket and also the cool bracket from jacfab is no good. for me i will still put on those brackets and not drill a hole in my bumper so to put this stupid plates..

this is crap !!!! this is why this law is to be amended. there are other states that dont require front license plates and it has been argued a lot regarding these laws.

Time to step up to the plate, stop complaining and do your part in getting the law changed. Right now would be the best time to get it done. Changing the law would save the State money, not having to produce two plates and still charging the same rate. Things that don't cost a State money are much easier to get changed, than the ones that cost. Start by calling your local State Senator and House of Rep, just do your research first so you know what your talking about ...

Thank goodness I'm in PA and moving to AZ. Both states that don't require front plates.

done that. theres a lot of petitions goin on to abolish this law.

IL has the law as well. There was an amendment submitted to change the 2 plate requirement, but it was voted down last year. So we still have 2 plates.

As long as you have a front plate in NY visible on the bumper you are fine. Ive never heard of that 12 inches rule being enforced and Ive heard of just about every bs ticket NY can give you.

my dealer text me and reminded me about it coz she knows that im planning to put on the jacfab bracket. so i did a little search and she was right.

and you are right too. its not being enforced 100%. but just letting everyone know about this stupid stuff
