Arrow 2011 Camaro Recall, Anyone Else Get The Letter?

I received a letter, from Chevrolet, in the mail on Monday (06/28/11) that stated the following:

"We have learned that your 2011 model year Chevrolet Camaro may have a condition in which the air conditioning compressor may not turn on or off. This could cause the compressor to fail, resulting in a loss of air conditioning.

Your satisfaction with your Camaro is very important to us, so we are announcing a program to prevent this condition.

What We Will Do: Your Chevrolet dealer will reprogram the body control module. This service will be performed for you at no charge until May 31st, 2013."

I am certainly not going to wait until May of 2013 to fix this, will be calling my dealer very shortly, but I wanted any input I could get from other forum members to see if they too have received a letter like this.

Yeah, there have been recent threads regarding this recall. There is a dealer on the forum that will check your VIN to see if your car is affected.

Your link came up like this:

"Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms."

I had it fixed today. They just have to reprogram the system to send the right code or something, took them a while though cause they have to plug the car into a machine and download new software, which takes a while appearantly due to the fact that the system they have to dial into to download this new software is constantly bogged down and gives them a "busy signal".

I didn't get a letter, but I called my dealer today, and they pulled up my VIN and confirmed I have a recall for the A/C issue. :( Waste of time....

BTW...My A/C works fine...cold, always turns on, etc...

I received the letter too. Mine works fine also. What if I bring it in and they cause me to have problems. Should I? I hate other people working on my car. If it's fine, should I worry with it?

Get it done anyway if your car is on the recall list, it will save your compressor in the future. I have read where they have burned out.Justa precaution do it..I had mine done and the AC is now cold as all get out..

I worry about that too, but seeing as how it's not a mechanical thing (where they have to remove something and put a new one in) but a simple reprogram so the correct signal is sent (or something like that), I am going through with the reprogramming despite the fact that my A/C is currently running fine.
