Had Tints put on today

Finally had the nerve to put tints on my car. I've really struggled with this since in NJ it's a no no. I went with 35% all around which I felt was my best bet. Next, The Sinister Hood.

where in NJ are you? i'm a jersey guy myself.

Also, I have friends that have used 50% and never had an issue. 35% is a bit darker, be careful...our state sucks...we cant put anything in our cars: cold air intakes, tint, hell we cant even put in our own gas

Looks great btw

Wow, never knew Jersey didn't allow tint...actually didn't realize there was any state that flat out banned tint.

Looks good. Hope you fly under the radar and don't get stopped.

How much does a tint job run? I've been considering it since I bought my car in Sept. of '09. The higher the % the lighter the tint?

The percentage throws people off....I believe the tint % is actually "visibility" not how much its tinted. 35% means its 65% tinted as seen from the outside. And the great state of new jersey has laws against tints of any kind on the windshield and the front drivers/passenger windows.

Looks badass though.

I paid $100.00. The place actually wanted $125.00 but he took off $25 because when I took it last saturday as scheduled,he was shorthanded so he couldn't do it for me. A nice goodwill gesture for sure. I was quoted prices from 195.00 up to 295.00. Tints are guaranteed for life too! I'm lucky enough to have a co-worker who used them and gave me the recommend. Yes, the higher the %, the lighter the tint.

North Jersey. I know, the thing is I can't even lower the windows for 3 days. Precautionary measure I guess. I hope they don't bust my chops but I did buy the car in PA. I plan on using the "they were on there when I bought it" excuse. Hopefully I won't have to use it. As far as pumping gas, I don't mind that. I know it's supposed to make the price of gas less, but is that even true?

That might work for awhile....a few years ago a relative had a Lexus SUV that he bought in PA with tints...he never said anything about getting a ticket but he was constantly complaining about the hassle. If you keep the paperwork in the car (bill of sale, etc) they might buy it...just sucks getting stopped, ticket or not.

Seems like nobody really likes buying cars in this state either...I got mine at Reedman's in Langhorne PA....and I have Superior Chevrolet in Lawrenceville within walking distance...kinda says alot. Never had a bad experience there or anything but the better deals seem to be across the border.

I guess if they bust my chops enough I'll do what I have to do, but I'm glad I finally pulled the trigger. I can always switch them to 50% if necessary. That's hardly noticable.

The % indicates how much light can be transmitted through the film. 100% means that 100% of light incident to the film will be transmitted through. 50% will let 50% of the light through and 0% won't let any light through.

When I say 'light', I mean the full spectrum of light, not just visible light. This includes IR and UV, which is why it helps keep your car cool.
