It's been many years since I've owned an automatic, and I've NEVER owned a car with "Manual Mode" or Tap Shifting, so forgive my ignorance. (I don't want to do anything to hurt the transmission, so I haven't experimented at all.)

1a. Is it ok to shift to/from Manual Mode while driving?
1b. If yes, should the vehicle be below a certain speed before dropping it into Manual Mode?

When I first put the car in "M", I notice that the gear isn't displayed on my HUD... Instead, an "S" is displayed.... once the tap shift is touched, it switches to the appropriate gear and it is displayed on the HUD and dashboard... this leads me to question #2.

2. When first placed in Manual Mode, will the vehicle shift automatically for me until I tap?

S is sport mode,as soon as you tap your tap shift it will go into maual mode (as long as your in sport).If your in sport mode while driving and (Tap) you will be in manual mode in the gear it was in and you can shift in maual mode as you chose.And no it will not upshit automatically in manual.
