TRANSFORMERS 2!!!

In what amounts to little more than a throwaway line in an interesting article detailing the between between the principals of DreamWorks and its current parent company, Paramount, we're given confirmation on when we should expect to see the sequel to this summer's Transformers. With the film grossing over $700 million worldwide (and a big DVD release on the way that will shovel more money into the coffers), a Transformers 2 was a foregone conclusion. And now, thanks to LA Times scribe Claudia Eller, we know that Summer 2009 is when it's set to hit screens. Both Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay are signed on, according to the article.

Those of you who loved/hated the wall-to-wall making-of coverage while the first film was in production should prepare for more of the same in 2008. After all, the TF sequel should include new robots and new cars for us to gab about. Maybe the second time around, GM will even have some on-screen company from other carmakers, too.

Awesome!!! Summer 2009, huh? That's genious really. Release the car in January, and then in summer, when most people are looking for a car! Just like smokey and the bandit, that should nudge more than a few to go out and buy a film-star vehicle. Finally, some confirmation - Thanks Camarospike!

Exellent news and great release time. I can't wait to see what other types of cars they have in the movie.

That is cool and all, but it will make getting my Camaro in 2009 all that much harder now.

I might end up with a Vette afterall.

I'm hoping they show the vert in it. Maybe rodimus prime or something.

Great find Camarospike!

I've been ragging on everybody here[home] to go with me. But nobidy wants too... Soon, sometime this week perhaps...

I've been to the IMAX once, long years ago, and I've been suffering HUGE-screen withdrawl ever since.

Last movie I saw on imax (first movie on imax) was 300. I'm gonna go see TF on imax soon as next pay check rolls around in 2 weeks. Maybe I'll get my g/f to go watch it with me for my birthday next sunday.

Transformers probably won't last long in iMax with the DVD coming out soon.

But the iMax near me runs just one movie per month. The same movie, every showtime, all month.

Transformers is playing at the IMAX here in Seattle every day (it's closed on Mondays) up until the DVD comes out on the 16th. It plays at 4:00, 7:00, and 10:00. I believe there's a 3D Dinosaurs movie that plays earlier in the day.

I just saw it last Sunday at the IMAX theater. It was the first time I had seen the movie, and I have to say I was impressed. I'm usually not a big fan of movies based on Comic Books/Cartoons/Toys (i.e. The Hulk, Spiderman, Superman, Electra). Transformers was a movie based on a cartoon based on a toy! and I'm sure it was a comic book at some point in there. There are definitely exceptions to that and this was a big one. It had great action, drama, comedy, and style. The effects were amazing and it featured a battle between a superpowered Camaro and a superpowered Mustang (I think we all know who won that one).

I watch a lot of movies, and I like very few of them, but Transformers had it all, and did it all better than the rest. I'm definitely looking forward to the next one.
