Rotating Front Tires Side to Side?

I'm getting my chromed OEM wheels installed tomorrow. The rear tires are getting replaced, but my front are still good around 50% so they are going to be reinstalled.

I've read a few threads suggesting that it might be a good idea to rotate the fronts side to side for longevity. It does look like the outer edge of the front right is slightly more worn than the left side.

I'm wondering if there is any NEGATIVES to rotating the fronts? Obviously, because there is an "outside" to the Pirelli tire they will be going in reverse from what they have been thus far.

Dealer wants to sell tires ! I rotate side to side at every oil change, NO side effects detected, 25900 miles so far. Rears will be changed by fall, fronts have over 50 % left. Happy motoring.

My dealer said do the side to side every 7,500 miles while it's also in for an oil change. Only done it once so far, but wear is even on all tires. They do the same for the rears.

Question:
When doing this. Do you have to swap just the tire (remove both front tires from rims then swap) or can you lift the front, and swap both front wheels and call it a day? I don't understand the whole asymmetrical tire tread one directional thing.

Sorry if it's a no0b question.

I have 2 sets of tires and rims. The Perellis for about 8 months of the year and Yokohama Prada spec -x All seasons for the winter. I have swapped tires, front to front and back to back 4 times so far and I have never worried about a tire being the right front or the left front as I do not mark them. I have never had an issue. All 8 of my tires are showing better than normal and even wear.

If you swap tires and wheels from side to side, what affect does that have on the TPMS? Right side might look like low pressure, but it would really be the left...

Any time you swap the wheel locations, you will need to do the TPMS relearn procedure to make sure they are reading the proper location. Check your owner's manual for that procedure.

I don't see the benefit of swapping tires side to side. Not unless you are a NASCAR driver and only take left turns. The front (and rear) tires should be wearing nearly identical if your alignment and air pressures are correct.

Look up Radial Pull.

The tires normally wear to fit them selves to the car and the road. The natural road crown on the road causes the tire to develope its own wear pattern. If you swap a tire side-to-side, you will create what is known as Radial Pull. Your stearing wheel will be off center a little and it will have an un-natural pull to one side. I wouldn't do it. This is coming from someone that has done alignments for over 20 yrs.

Thanks for the info guys.

I won't be swapping from left to right.
