scoop or vmax throttle body?

I just installed a CAI inc cai today and so far so good. So now I'm thinking scoop or maybe ported throttle body and both are in the same affordable ball park. The install seems more than I'd like on the scoop and I don't like the idea of moving the water bottle but if it is worth it then I'll do it. I just got turned on to the vmax throttle body but it seems like such an ordeal to have the money tied up while doing all the switching and again how much to you actually gain plus I read somewhere that this is less effective on the v6 and may even have the opposite effect.

So I'd love to hear some opinions on either of these and I'm open to suggestions for other mods that will first increase mpg, second increase power, and third sound mean while not voiding my warranty.

you have the LS turn your Fog light into a scoop for around 10 bucks and add the vmax throttle body.

Is this a custom deal or is that a product you can buy? I dont' really want to move the water jug and cut a hole for the scoop and getting rid of that black void in the fog light hole sounds great.

I can't justify the cost/benefit of the throttle body. There have been reports that the throttle will give you 3 HP and it costs $150 or so....that doesn't really add anything to a 3700 lb car.

Scoop will probably be more beneficial, since it will grab cooler air closer to the ground.

if its a functional scoop, It will bring slightly cooler air into the engine bay area. It could help reduce some IAT KR on a hot day. The throttle body will get more air into your car's motor thus helping performance.

If you car going to have the car tuned, The IAT tables should be reduced anyway and getting cooler air becomes less of a factor. The TB will give you a couple RWHP more which can be made up with a slightly larger cam.

Given the two option, Id do the hood scoop.................mainly because they look great.

Ok I got the idea from this post and then went with it. I first did it with PVC which was pretty rough but effective, but then found this 4" to 3" rubber adapter slid right over the back of the back of the foglight housing. I did not need to relocate the the water bottle, but did have the wrestle the metal scoop in to place a little to make it shoot between the water bottle and the fender. It was just about a quarter inch too long, but was able to make it work.

The air litterally shoot a straight stream between the water bottle and the fender. with a simple fan I was able to feel the air coming out the top vent of my injen intake lid vent, so I am sure it really shoots in there at 60 mph.

I absolutely love it and have decided to "X' what I thought when I bought the car would be my very first mod, Fog lights.

Also I just got some small corner bead mesh and cut it and painted it to fill the holes in the fog light port. Cost me like 10-12 bucks tops. You cant beat that price for the performance it adds!!
