Can't believe I just dropped my keys down

the trash chute in my highrise.

I bought the car used and so the dealer didn't have a 2nd pair of keys. I'm waiting for maintenance to come let me in. The building isn't full with occupants (snow birds haven't come down yet) and there are 4 chutes total - so not much trash should be piling up on top of the keys. Security told me this happen a few times already and not to worry. Only thing is I was supposed to have my car on a lift this morning to finish putting some stuff on it.

Waiting for maintenance to get here. Dam I don't look forward to digging through trash.:(

Anyway - how much to you think its going to cost to have those keys duplicated - remote and all?

Not sure about these but when I had my Blazer I had to get a new key fob and get it programmed and even then it was $178 from the stealership.

We just bought a new Equinox and the dealer said if we need a new key fob it will only cost around $50-$60 to replace. He said GM only charges around $32 for a new fob and then its just a bit more to cut the key.

I'd say depends on your dealer. When my mom bought her 08 Saturn early this year I made them throw in another key, but it shouldn't cost more than $100 or they are screwing you. Have fun dumpster diving.

Nah jokes are cool. And thanks about the avatar. She (my wife) is going to have a field day when she wakes up and find out what I did.

yes!! always try to make light of your situation. I'm fine now, but when I heard the keys falling I was so pissed. Now I can laugh at it.
